Date Distortion ? >>>>>
Has anyone seen a date bubble on a sapphire that distorts the date (even just a little)?
I’ve never seen a modern Rolex crystal distort the date, but a friend just bought a LN D series sub and the date is distorted a little. I'm sure the watch is 100%, but I’m starting to think it’s an after-market crystal. I can’t see the etched crown - I didn’t have a loop at the time, but I don’t need a loop to see them on others, including my own D Sub. I already told my friend to walk it into Rolex Dallas for an evaluation, but they’re thinking about just sending it back to the seller. Any thoughts? |

If it's a D-series, it must have the laser etching. As for distortion....well, never had that on any of my Rollies....so I think the whole set up looks very fishy to me.

It can be quite common to see an older, acrylic crystal to have a distorted (warped looking) date due to the cyclops being over polished but I've never seen it on a modern sapphire one........?

As you're in Dallas couldn't hurt to swing by the RSC.

have a panerai marina, when you look at the sapphire cystal at certain angles the inage becomes distorted and looks like a wavy bubble. does this mean the crystal is not sapphire, is it some cheap mineral glass? a friend told me sapphire crystal will never distort the image or become wavy, please help me to understand if i got a cheap knockoff watch here

I had a distorted date once. I chose to not see her again.

Can the distortion be due to paralex error?
