Icon10 My new 116610 LN...

I just received this watch 2 days ago...

I was a bit worried that I would not like the watch because of its 'squarish' case...I figured that if I did not like it I would just move it on and part fund a Blancpain FF with the proceedings..guess what? The FF will have to wait !

It took me all of 2 seconds after putting the watch on for the case to look just right. It really does not look awkward at all on the wrist...granted it's more squarish than say a 16610..but the new case just gives the watch LOTS of wrist presence and looks absolutely superb..I always thought the 16610 had too pointy and thin lugs which I do not like 100%. I believe the best compromise lies somewhere in between these two extremes though...kind of like a DSSD or GMT-IIc...

This watch just feels MUCH more solid than a 16610...it exudes quality craftsmanship and it is MUCH more comfortable than my 14060M. The thin side walls of the clasp on the 16610/14060 dig into the wrist a bit...no such problems with the new hugely improved clasp! It now feels in place on a 7000+ USD watch ...Also the sharp sides of the case do not dig on the wrist like on the 14060M. I really am surprised by this but the 116610LN is much more comfortable...

It really wears nice and if you like large watches, do not be afraid to try this watch on because it's wrist presence on the wrist is much more commanding than the old Subs...I am very happy that I did not go for a DSSD, because this one is just the perfect size and weight for me...

And how can you forget the amazing Chromalight lume, which although nowhere as bright as say an OS 300m lume it just keeps going...it still glows nicely after 8 hours through the night

Hope you like it...I sure do ...tomorrow if I get some time I will post a short comparison of 16610/116610/14060M subs...thanks!

Congratulations. Good choice. I got mine, my first and only Rolex, a month ago and love it. I too was looking at the DS, I thought Subs were too small, I'm not a large watch guy, I'm just a large guy! (6'8, size 17 feet with hands to match) So, I was very surprised when I tried on a C in the Caribbean a few months ago, that it didn't seem small even on my Sasquatch like mitts. :) It was then I knew I didn't need a DeepSea to satisfy my Rolex dive watch itch:)

Great looking watch and I'm not looking to cause any trouble, but am I mistaken or does that lume appear way too green?

That's what I keep harping since I got my Sub-C: the wide lugs only look too wide when the watch is off-wrist. Once you put it on, it simply works. Squarish, yes, but in a good way I hope you'll enjoy your 116610LN for a long time

Great, thoughtful write-up and pictures. Looks great on your wrist.
I agree that the GMT-IIc case is a very nice compromise between the pointy 16610 lugs and those on the sub-c. Still, I like the beef factor that the sub-c has going on with its shoulders.

Thanks! Yes I agree...in fact I prefer the beefier lugs on the 116610LN than the older subs pointy items ...

Exactly that I remember seeing a Sub-c in a London AD and thinking to myself..."Nah..it looks a bit odd..I think I prefer the DSSD"..

Then I tried on the DSSD (a million times) to try and like it (really I tried hard)..but I just cant get over those stupid (IMHO) words on the chapter ring..

I am REALLY glad I went with the Sub-C ..

It is my friend...turqoise actually ..it's just the picture...

Dont worry it's no fake..a Parachrom bleu equipped 3135 beats at its core..it's keeping time to within +1 second per 2 days which is IMHO OUTSTANDING MECHANICAL PERFORMANCE
