Can anyone give me any info on this Omega?
My wife just gave me this older Speedmaster. I think it is at least 20 years old. Can any of you fine gentlemen offer any info about this watch?
What would it cost to have a new crystal installed, and have the watch cleaned up? Thank you in advance, Rodbuster. |

That is a model 176.012, with automatic 17 jewel caliber 1045, from the mid 1970's (the movement should have a serial number which could determine an approximate production date). It looks like you may have the original bracelet, should have the Omega symbol on the outside of the clasp and a style number on the inside of clasp.
If the movement requires a cleaning, cost excluding parts could run anywhere from $150-300, if done by a local watchmaker. (Maybe someone here can connect you with a watchmaker in your area.) If you send it to Omega, they may charge approx $1000. Replacing the crystal will make an incredible difference in appearance and can be found here: http://www.ofrei.com/page_168.html#8174 Enjoy your new Speedmaster! |

That Cal 1045 iirc uses the Lemania 5100 base movement and was an absolute favorite of the late Omega enthusiast Chuck Maddox.
Interesting info on it: http://chronomaddox.com/omega/manual...ce_manual.html http://chronomaddox.com/omega/articl...arkSeries.html Well worth servicing.

Thank you gentlemen for the replies. I am awaiting word from my jeweler, concerning a new crystal, and possibly buffing the stainless to clean it up. I would like to keep the watch as original as possible. Out of curiousity, how much are these older Speedmasters worth?
Thank you again for your time, your info is appreciated. rodbuster |
