Discount on JLC

I am thinking of buying the JLC Master Calendar RRP £6650; my local AD is an independent so what sort of discount should I aim for? Will it be possible to get 25%?

Nice watch, not sure what kind of discount you can get where you are at. Some of that depends on what kind of buisness you have done with them before.

But definitely it is a great watch.

Thanks. As far as I know, I wouldn't expect it to be off that far. Its a JLC and they make accurate watches. I have a couple of watches to be honest, so I rotate amongst them and I don't really check in regards to how accurate they are.

20% is certainly achievable and why not aim for 25%.

Remember a 25% discount at retail includes a saving on the VAT element by the same percentage.

£12,000 watch (£10k plus VAT), 25% discount = £9,000 (£7,500) plus VAT.

A £3,000 discount at retail relates to a dealer margin loss of £2,500.

The dealer's not giving you the full 25% (or 20 or 10%) for that matter. The VAT man is taking a part of the hit. 5/6th = dealer discount 1/6th = VAT discount.

Don't let the dealer forget this; 10% = just over 8% in reality.

I was thinking of getting 20-25% then claim back the VAT as the watch will be taken out of the UK by a visitor who wants to buy the watch in the UK.
