Does it have a name ? I don't like real vintage and I do'nt like the newest models

So the 1680 with plexi is not a watch I like
I prefer saphire
I hate these rivited bracelts because they feel like a 5 USD Chinese fake

On the other hand I don't like the newest models vey much
I don't like the new subs and GMT's I do prefer the previous like the 16610
I won't say I don't like the Daytona 116520 but imo the older Zenith Daytona 16520 looks much better

So, It seems like I fit between the vintage and the new models

Am I the only one ?

And is there a name for these kind of watches ?

I'd say you are on the right track.

And is there a name for these kind of watches ?

It's called personal choice.

Nope, I think there are two of us. I think there are some great watches that fall into this collectors no-mans-land.

Given time, 5-10 + years, the current vintage section will be renamed the Rolex Connoisseur Section or Virtually Unobtainable Rolex Grail Section, and the earliest sapphire models will become the new Vintage Section.

When I recently posted my newest addition 1991 N series 16710. It was commented that is possibly deserved to be in the Vintage section. I was in two minds as to where I should post it due to the fantastic coffee colour of the markers. It felt out of place in both forums as it was a non plexiglass model.

As for a name - vintage in the making.

Well said, although my personal preference is just a bit from every era.

I have a 1680 Red Sub.

I have a 16710 and a 16610LV.

I have a 116710, 16622, 116333, and a 116520.

I think it would be Neo-Curmudgeon. I can see where you are coming from.

However, have you ever tried a Red sub 1680 on a 93150 bracelet? It is pretty close to the newer stuff, and there is just something special about it IMHO.

Neo-curmudgeon is pretty good. I fall into this catogary myself, although I actually like the current Daytona, but I will never buy one with the ugly engraved-modernista rehaut.

Maybe you are thinking of transitional models? Some examples are the 16800 Sub, 16750 GMT, the Fat Lady GMT, 16660 matte Seadweller, etc...?
