Deposit paid

Not much to see here, I just wanted to share with my fellow TRF'ers that I placed a deposit on my first rolex, GMTIIC (first fine watch) at my AD. I paid half and locked in the price (in case of increase). I've saved monthly and will be paying cash. They're going to hold it for me until I reach a personal milestone in May for which I will celebrate with this watch. They're throwing in tons of goodies for me. I can't wait. Lastly, the information and fellowship on this forum is amazing. Thank you.

We bought my wife's ring from the AD so they're incredibly open and honest with us. A few tidbits my AD (big city) shared:

-They absolutely cannot keep SUB's and GMT's in stock. At this point most folks are placing deposits and ordering.
-Rolex executes extremely thorough financial audits of their sales
-They're selling 40mm watches to women like hotcakes
-Daytona wait list? Longer than the list of men who'd marry Scarlett Johansson
-ExpII42 moving very well
-DDII extremely popular as well with men and women
-Pressure from Rolex along with high demand for professional models has virtually eliminated discounting, even for established customers.

Since I mostly lurk, I'll return to hibernation until I collect my watch in May and post pics. to all.

Nice to hear how accommodating your AD is. I wonder if the Rolex boutiques will do that kind of arrangement.

Many thanks, everyone. I was already a WIS but thanks to TRF I know suffer from what another TRFer yesterday called W.A.S (Watch acquisition syndrome!) I really hope the time flies by. I'm 30 years old, career heating up, great time for all of this to happen. I also feel really good about saving and paying cash. I was very tempted to charge, but decided against it.

I love the IIC and can't wait to own it, but this site has educated me on the brand and fine watches as a whole. I'm already lining up my next purchase... a 116000 silver Arabic dial for the wife. She's quickly caught the bug watching me save and surf TRF :)

Great watch.

Congratulations.

I agree that paying cash is the way to go in most cases.
