Electronic cigarette explodes in man's mouth, causes serious injuries

Another reason to quit smoking!

I mean really quit.
So much for being safer. An electronic cigarette blew up in a Florida man's face, leaving him in a hospital with severe burns, missing his front teeth and a chunk of his tongue.

Fire officials said Wednesday that the man had switched to electronic cigarettes to try and quit smoking, and that the scary situation was caused by a faulty battery.

"The best analogy is like it was trying to hold a bottle rocket in your mouth when it went off," said Joseph Parker, division chief for the North Bay Fire Department. "The battery flew out of the tube and set the closet on fire."

Was pleased that my Dad is trying that electronic cigarette.

Will have to tell him to go back to normal cigs now.

The first thing I did was laugh. But then reading how he was injured wiped that smile off of my face.

The smokeless cigarette is bad on so many levels.

No smoke, no nicotine delivery (according to the latest tests), they often contain deadly chemicals that don't belong (think Chinese manufacturing), and now exploding Chinese batteries.

Lots better for you than the real thing huh??

I hope this man will recover from his injuries quickly! My mother wants to stop but if she thinks about that I think I'll let her know it may not be the best idea.
