Gaming/powerhouse rig

Anyone else here into building beastly workstations? Post em if ya got em!

i7 950 3.06GHz CPU (OC'ed to 3.58 stable on liquid, 36GB Kingston Hyper X DDR3 (sinks removed....hate em), 3TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM, Antec Pro HCP-1200 PSU, Nvidia GTX-285 GPU (GPU may be ancient to some but somehow it spits out the garbage code on the Crysis 1 engine that a lot of the newer GPU's in the 5 series have a hard time with and benchmarks like a mad SOB ).

That is BA! Sadley no longer have a gaming machine.

It has been a long time, but I used to build gaming machines all the time for Quake, Doom, Counter Strike (the best IMHO) among others.

Nice job!

CS is my all time favorite. Hate the hackers, but we ran our own server so the were easily kicked.

I have to get back in to gaming, but most of my friends went in the XBox route so poeple arn't competing against who has the better v-card/CPU/etc.

My desktop is i7 920 that I've had to 4.1 ghz but I have backed down to 3.7ghz. All liquid cooling. Just got GTX590x2 in sli for Christmas. Originally built it in Jan 09 with air cooling and trip GTX 280's. They are almost as bad as watches. Actually can be worse since new cutting edge stuff comes out ever month.

This is true but you can never get a snapshot down with an analog controller. Mouse and keyboard forever! I was able to get a few nice 1000FPS servers running on Ubuntu by editing the kernel. Had a site up with a full user friendly CPanel and the full works ready to rent servers when I worked with a network company that had a small datacenter and a nice pipe but it just never took off. I may get something private going here in the next couple of weeks. Now that CAL is gone I am forced to pay for CEVO or just cheap out on the ladder leagues like OGL or TWL.
