I wouldn't think so. Make sure the crown is tightened properly so the seal is working as it should.

That's what i was thinking but what about the caseback? You can't tighten the caseback on you own. It's not like the crown.

As the watches are for diving, I would expect the watch to be waterproof all over.

I use to regular wear mine in the shower with no problems. I did think before it went into the RSC that the dial had water marks on it but it was worse. They were cracks and the dial had to be replaced. :(

Sorry to hear that. Most of the watchmakers that i have talked to they told me that you have to check the waterproofness of the watch once every year. The rubber gaskets at the back should be in perfection condition so that's why it is important to have the watch checked ever year

Your question is a bit ambigious, Frostie.

You mean if moisture just sits on the outside....of course not!!!

But if you mean if moisture did manage to penetrate the inside of the watch, then you're looking at a full service.

I've said this before....water and steel aren't exactly the best of friends!!

No way.....not if the crown is fully screwed down and all the seals and gaskets intact.

The two most likely ways are a poorly installed back case cover gasket (or a loose case cover). And through the stem seals---I guess that's really three.

Over time, the stem will tend to groove where the o-rings seal around the shaft. This combined with the rubber deterioration or imbrittlement leaves an easy path for dirt and water.

The Twinlock uses a single o-ring around the stem shaft and an o-ring gasket in the crown to seal.

A new Triplock uses 2 o-rings around the stem shaft, a third in the crown, and a 4th around the tube (the visible one).

All those have to fail before water gets in..

No, seriously, im scared in putting it near humidity also :s What is my super datejust gets damaged, the crown, caseback, crystal, inside :s :( Anybody anytime in his life had a problem with a Rolex and water inside?

Antonio

PS: I ask this because I took a bath in a swimming pool with my Traser Classic Automatic Pro, and after that, all the time I go from a hot to a cold enviroment, there was condensation in the dial :(

As long as the watch is in good order you'll be fine. Mine have been underwater, in snow, rain, mud,...and a sewer (don't ask). Where people get into trouble is not servicing the watch.

Whoa! Whoa!! Guys, guys....

We are talking about a damn solid watch that has been subjected to several tons of pressure on land....and is, therefore, capable of sustaining the same amount of pressure underwater.

So what's all this BS talk about a Rolex being merely moisture proof.

You can hurl anything at a Rolex by way of depth ratings and I'm pretty sure it can take it all!!

Cheers - JJ
