My day at Houston's Westin Galleria...

So my mum had a doctor's checkup today in Houston, and afterwards we spent the day at the Galleria... Naturally I went off to look at watches

The rundown:

Torneau- Nowhere near as bad as what some people would have you think... Very large selection of Rolex, Breitling, Panerai, IWC, Patek... They had a STUNNING rose gold Nautilus quite similar to the one Ken has... and several of their grand complications as well, absolutely mindblowing...

Ben Bridge: My favorite store, by a mile. Again, great selection, they had a huge number of Rolexes in stock... GMT's, Subs, New Expy 2's, the ceramic Daytonas, literally dozens of datejusts of all flavors imaginable, DayDates... Only model I can't remember seeing was the SS Daytona. Staff was very knowledgeable, very kind, and despite my futile attempts to tell them I was just browsing, they insisted on me trying on a few pieces... My thoughts, the 42mm Explorer is AMAZING, and that white Milgauss? I didn't think I could take it off.

Swatch Store: Just a little fun store, only sold Swatches. Pretty neat seeing all the variety of models Swatch makes, for not a lot of dough
Staff were a bit uncommunicative though...

Omega Boutique: I didn't go in, it was packed with people... They had several gorgeous Speedmasters in the windows, and the new Planet Ocean looks really sweet

Macy's: I know, I know, but it had a large selection of watches, including TAG Heuer, which never struck me as a Macy's Brand... Lots of the usual Movados (the Bold is kinda funky, I like it), I handled a Monaco, iconic watch, obviously quality made, but I just wasn't a fan of the case. The other stuff, Bulovas (The Precisionist is neat) Seikos, etc, was there as well.

There were other stores, but I only had a few hours to kill, and the Westin Galleria is MASSIVE.... like four stories massive... In the end, I bought my dad a new G Shock for Father's Day...

Thanks for reading

Great report! Very surprised that they sell TAG Heuer in a Macy's?

I thought this as well, but this mall is pretty upscale, housing brands such as Zegna, Bulgari, Tesla, Tiffany's... At my local Macy's the best I get to choose from are Citizens and Seikos... Nothing wrong with those watches, but you know what I mean...

Omega boutique packed?? I've been there a dozen times and never seen more than 5-6 customers. Good for them.

Tourneau does have a pretty good selection. The new explorer is on my wish list....

Ben Bridge store here in Denver is great as well, the are a smaller store so they don't have a big selection but the sales are very helpful and always let me try on whatever I want without any high pressure to buy. They serviced a Tag watch under warranty for me a few years ago and they did a great job handling that transaction.

A few weeks ago I was in the Galleria and wandered by Tourneau. The selection of brands was pretty impressive. It's a first rate stop for window shopping. They must have a solid turnover because I saw quite a change in selection from a month earlier-- particularly in the pre-owned.

There is quite the selection. Two of the sales guys are very knowledgable as well. and not pushy. One guy wears an AP 15300 and commented his next watch will be the white Nautilus.

I bought a tag in their Boston store like 6 or 7 years ago. Got a pretty good price after stacking a friends & family discount + new Macy's card sign off + fine watches sale. Think it ended up being somewhere around 40% msrp.
