How long is long enough?
Just received a new watch from an on-line retailer. After winding it, how long a trail period is needed for measuring how acurately it's keeping time. A day? A week? A month? Just wondering if there was a rule of thumb on such a thing.

Usually I give it 3 days. Some people say, and they may have a point, that a watch will "settle in" but I've always found that they don't vary much once they are running, especially Rolex. Some watches are position sensitive but I've never really noticed any variation to speak of with Rolex. Guess that's because they are on my wrist on the winder.

Thanks for your response Rodentman. Three days in and it seems to be right on point.

If it's a brand new watch give it at least a month to settle in.
EDIT: Ooops, I assumed it was a Rolex. |
