New Guy in Seattle
Hey Everyone,
I'm glad to have found this forum. I have been interested in watches for many years but never really had the funds to be able to afford a nice watch like a Rolex. I have spent the past 20 years looking at them, studying them, reading about them, etc. I have been browsing internet sites, etc. with the hopes to someday bite the bullet and buy one. Well, the day has finally come. It is my 40th birthday in 5 weeks and my wife surprised me by telling me that she wants to buy me a Rolex. I don't even think I could wear such an expensive watch around as I would be so scared to lose it, scratch it up, etc. Lol, I'll probably just wear it around the house and look at it and take pictures of it... I do wear watches that are in the $300-$1000 range but never in the $8k or so range. I am doing research on what to get and although she hasn't given me a price range, I'm thinking in the $7k-$8k range so a Submariner, Explorer II, gmt-master II, DSSD, etc. I'm not as much into the dressier watches (datejust, day-date, etc.) and a Daytona would be a little out of range. I actually like big watches like the Panerai and DSSD but will probably hold off for now. I'll probably stick with a fairly standard stainless steel black submariner only because even though some of the others definitely look nice, I think I gotta get this submariner out of my system (I've loved that watch for a long time). I'll also probably drive down to Oregon to save on the sales tax. Maybe I'll meet up with gaijin and go to his AD or something...and drink some scotch while I get my watch :). RVD. |
