Rolex Oyster Perpetual Model 6015 date? pls help
Hello Guys!
I'm new and have been reading the threads, you guys seem quite helpful knowledgeable and friendly so wondered if you could help me please? I am trying to date this watch, I have some info as i said is model 6015 and serial no 6813XX I think it may be a bubbleback from the early 1930's but would really appreciate any advice... |

Hi,
Bubbles aren't exactly my strong point, but the serial no. would date it to around end 30's to early 40's with this model. Just flying over the dial, I would almost guess that the dial was redone as the Swiss marking and also from memory something is missing, like "Precision" or "Chronometer" which should be written on the dial above the 6 hour marker. Also looking at the corrosion at the hands, it's not quite in harmony with the hour markers. |

It's actually from the early '50s, likely 1952 or so, as it has the Super Oyster crown. It was one of the last series of bubblebacks.
If you are considering purchasing this, personally I would avoid it, for the reasons stated by the second poster -- bad redial (I'm actually wondering if it might be aftermarket) and wrong hands.

Although..
This one is Solid Gold, most seem to be steel or steel/gold mix semi-bubblebacks and bubblebacks model 6015 are rare, especially if its a Super Oyster? Just a thought.. |
