Yesterday I posted a picture of my vintage Tudor Day/Date as my first post here. It is in great condition for being 33 years old but has not been polished and has several scratches(nothing major, just cosmetic.) if this was a vintage sports model I woul not even consider polishing the character out of it. This being a dressier model, I'm curious as to your thoughts. Polish it and make it like new or keep it original? Thanks for the input!

from the pic, it looks great! I wouldn't polish my Rolex or Tudor unless it had DEEP scratches in it. I can't put my finger on it, but something about a polish seems to detract from the watch.

I agree with Kevin.
Unless you have a nasty scratch or dent on it, just leave it as it is.

It was polished when you bought it. If you want to make it look like new, polish it. Sweet watch!

If the scratches earned over the years don't bug you -- then keep it as is. It looks great from the picture you posted.

If in doubt - don't do it.

Looks excellent to me.

You can't un-do a polish. I have yet to see a polish done so well that it's not immediately visible what's been done. Sure, I haven't seen as many watches as many more experienced collectors here but any polish tends to soften the case visibly, to some extent, in my experience. I wouldn't do it unless the need is desperate (e.g. huge scratch)

Well with a normal routine service and polish done at the RSC,I would doubt if there were no deep scratches on watch to start with.Say watch had just general swirl marks from normal wearing if you put a brand new watch plus the one thats just serviced doubt if you could tell the difference.

Thanks for all your responses...it looks like the consensus is to keep it original. I believe that is the rout I will take with it. There are no deep scratches at all, just minor stuff. I am normally anal about these things but need to learn to relax a little. Nothing's ever going to be perfect I guess. Can't thank you enough for your thoughts! Have a great day everyone!

If the scratches were done by you then NO, I would not polish it. If you picked this piece up with unknown history and it has scratches that bother you then YES, but I'd wait until you get it serviced.

If your not planning on selling it why not polish it? Don't have to worry about losing value as your not gonna part with it.. Although it looks fantastic wouldn't worry about it just yet!

Looks great. Don't polish it. If you ever want to sell it, it's a plus when it's not polish. But again. Looks just great to me

No polishing. An AD polished my ROLEX when it was in for regulating. The crown side of the case shows where he could not get too close to the crown when buffing, ugly. The 9'oclock side of the case no longer has that factory sheen to it. Both of these conditions did not exist before I dropped it off for regulating - and they never asked to -- or advised that they would be polishing it.

If the scratches bother you then polish it but if they don't i wouldn't touch it.
