9 million 5513 with much older dial

Hi everybody,

Saw this on ebay:

http://www.ebay.ch/itm/271115678707?...t_17273wt_1344

Very strange, as dial is a non wg surround maxi dial Tritium, so much earlier than the watch. Also, the digits of the engraved serial No. do not seem alligned (as if 9 would have been added later, and also 8 is strange).

What do you think? Just an original with a sourced older dial or something smells?

case looks sharp

case-back is 5512...

I wouldn't touch it, personally.

That is what I think. On the other hand, much a nicer dial then the wg surround horror.

I know. He was also wondering why the serial No. was that high when I raised his attention to it, but he didn't know the watches history.

But do you think it is only the dial thing or do you have concerns when you look at the engravings of the serial and ref.? I very often think that there are engraving issues with watches sold in the US also from otherwise reputable sellers. Most of the numbers and letters tend to look overengraved by someone. Why is that?

you certainly have to watch out for re engraved cases, it is sometimes done when the original engraving has worn down, not good imho

I agree totally with you, but I have to say that that means for us it would be no option to buy anything from the US, as from the 5 most reputable sellers over 90% of the offered tool watches have that issue.
