Explorer II - strange noise when winding

I have the current Explorer II (216570) which is now about 10 months old.

i am unsure as to whether it is faulty - when winding the watch there appears to be a grinding noise and it feels as if there is some kind of abrasion.

I don't have this problem with any of my other rolex's so think it may be faulty.

I had initially thought that it may be the crown touching the crown guards but that doesn't appear to be the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this?

There will be a slight noise especially if the watch is fully wound, but as long as it winds and runs ok I would say its fine.Perhaps a bit of dirt or needs a bit of lubrication on the winding stem but if its concerns you get it checked out.

Grinding while winding

My wife's datejust had the same problem, after a little over 2 years (not sure why) after she went for a run it started to grind and you could sort of "feel it spinning" inside.

Her watch was sent to RSC in Toronto at Yonge & St Clair and was fixed pretty quickly, and for free despite being out of warranty. When I went to pick it up I also had them remove a speck of dust out of my TTSubC that had been bothering me, in about 15 minutes as I waited. They're pretty good :)

Either way the problem with my wife's watch sounds exactly like what you had and it seemed like a pretty routine fix for the service center.
