How often to wind
Hi I have a datejust and I noticed when I take it off at night by the morning it has stopped running. I've wound the watch recently but I'm wondering how often should i wind it? How to people prevent their rolexs from stopping overnight? Its a pain to have to reset the time every morning. Thanks.

If i wear my datejust for several hours it last for 1.5 days untouched. For the daytona it does last longer almost 2 days untouched.
How old is your datejust? It should be lasting longer than overnight. Other options to keep the watch running is a watch winder but i would address the power issue first. |

At least once a week (40 turns) if you're not very active.

Once a wekk should do it, and it always works better when topped off too.

That does seem a bit short. It should go a day and a half plus some.

The rotor may be sticking a bit and not winding the spring as much as it should during the day. Have a good certified watchmaker look into it.
In the meantime, just wind it each night before bedtime and you'll be fine.

I actually have only been winding it a couple times a month so I don't wind it every morning. And usually i do 30 turns.

When I had one Rolex, I went about 20 years without winding. I thought a DJ should have about a 40 hour power reserve when fully wound. I may be a bit off there but not hugely off. I also assume that a decrease in power reserve is a normal sign of a drop in performance that will eventually require a full service.
