Tell me that I am wrong.
In reality, ROLEX has only three sport model, YM II, DAYTONA and GMT MASTER II. The YM II and DAYTONA are the only one on its own class. EXPLORE II is actually is GMT II with fix bezel. If you remove the 24 Hr hand and its function then you left with either SD, SUB date or YM. And your remove date. Then, all you have left is Milgauss and SUB with no date.

What you're saying, basically, is that Rolex doesn't have a lot of different types of complications.

You're wrong.
The movement isn't the only feature that contributes to the intended sporting application of the watch.

Well apart from others things the SD has a totally different depth rating. So I would call that a big enough "thing" to say it's different.

You're right. That's why I flipped the SD. After all, it was just a ladies' dress watch.

The Exp/GMT II (and now the GMT IIc) have different movements (3185/3186) compared to the SD/Sub/YM 40mm. And the Sub ND has a different movement as well. True, these movement are somewhat similar since they are made in house by Rolex, but they are indeed different movements. Just like ETA's movements are similar, but you cannot say that Omega, Breitling, and other brands have only 1 sports model.
Also, like mentioned above, the SD, Sub, and YM are constructed differently, reflecting different depth ratings. So, yes, you would be wrong. |
