Ok i am going to receive my first watch in a few weeks but to be honest i didn't buy it for it's value. I bought just because i like it. If i will buy a rolex watch again in the future i will not look for value. I will look for functionality

No, I buy the Rolex that I want. It's a great asset that they hold their value more than other brands. But it's not at the top of my purchase list. dP

When I bought my SS Daytona(-s), it was not really important to me that they have a high resale value. But now that I am going to flip my SS Daytona, it sure is nice that I can get more for it than I paid.

I think it makes it a lot easier to buy any Rolex knowing that I can turn around and sell it for basically the same as I paid. That's why I buy LNIB pre-owned--the depreciation is already out by the time I get my hands on it.

That being said, I do like that Rolexes tend to keep their value or in many ways increase in value as many years pass (obviously not for investment purposes). |

I buy the watches I like and want to wear. I don't buy them for investment purposes. If they end up being something that holds their value, that's a nice perk, but not a priority for me when shopping a watch.

Not on the first one. Now I'm considering that because the next one might be temporary to transition to something else I want.

My impression is that many people do consider this--I suppose they are just being cautious about the future and they want the flexibility of trading or selling it later if they tired of it. For myself, I never do this as I usually wait before my purchases to see if I feel I will like them longer term. So far, this has worked for me.

No. Because I don't plan on selling them. I plan on using and keeping them. If I need to sell my watch in the future and it's worth more than I paid for it, great.

No, I get the watch I like and wear it. If it is worth more later good, then whoever gets it after I'm gone can sell it and make some money.
