Icon5 This lady is playing me tricks

A few facts to begin with:
- My wife's lady datejust was purchased brand new from AD in Nov 2012.
- My wife wears it on average a couple of days a week
- The watch keeps time within COSC (just barely at ~+6s/d)
- I am in charge of winding the watch 90% of the times (make it 99%)

The problem:
- When I wind it, it does not feel smooth. It feels like something is grinding in there. I am not referring to the subtle "click click". This grinding feeling is some sort of additional resistance on top of it.

The trick:
- The grinding issue does not always happen. At the beginning I thought it was some sort of break-in. But I got concerned when it did not go away.
- Last week I called RSC to ask for a shipping kit and guess what? From that instant the watch has been behaving perfectly!

The question(s):
- Do I send it in anyway?
- It is still under warranty and I am leaning toward playing this safe rather than sorry. However, I am afraid that the RSC watchmaker will think I am HWN: hypochondriac watch nut!
- What do you suggest? Ever had anything similar?

Here you are pic to sweeten the long post:

Send it in! Still have the warranty. We are all "Watch Nuts" so I doubt you'll surprise RSC
Good luck.

I would send it in while it is still under warranty. I did that with my wife's Omega (winding issue as well) they said it was fine but it gave me a peace of mind.

Mine was doing the same. I sent it in and it's performing perfectly.

Did they give you a diagnose for that?

So it looks like there is unanimous consensus: the watch has to visit RSC.

UPDATE

For the peace of mind I decided to send the watch to RSC (NY). I followed the useful guide set up my Mike (it should be sticky'ed)
https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=277893
On 1/31/14 I mailed the watch in.
On 2/04/14 watch was received.
On 2/07/14 watch was estimated (no details were given, I was informed that a full service would have been performed under warranty).
On 2/25/14 I received a call saying that the watch was ready to be shipped.
On 2/28/14 The watch was delivered.

Overall it was a smooth experience. I was told on the phone that the winding mechanism needed some tuning but I was not given any specific detail. On the invoice it generically says that the watch was serviced.

I have to say that the watch was not super clean when it came back but nothing serious (no scratched lugs, dust under the crystal, or things like that).

One thing that struck me was that the crown was firmly screwed in. Actually so tight that I had to do a considerable amount of force to unscrew it. That definitively felt overtighten to me.

Finally, the watch was returned with a green soft pouch and a cleaning cloth.

There is indeed a watch in the box!
