Daytona SS price check

I've recently noticed a few Daytona SS that haven't sold here in the forum. I am cnsidering a purchase of a BNIB SS wth all the stickers still on including all bxes and papers. MSRP is $ 12,295, how much of a discount should I expect? Daytonas are still very desirable, if only a small discount is available shoud I just purchase from an AD?

The amount of discount on the Daytona is up to your bargaining skills and watches like the Daytona are only desirable if you want to own one and wear it.

I think there is still a strong demand for the ss daytona. I have seen every other rolex watch at my local AD's but have never seen a steel daytona in the display case

You can get plenty like new condition ss daytonas for around 10-11k from the trusted dealers in the for sale section. Its tougher to get discounts at the AD, really depend on where you live.

I'd find a barely used example here and save a few bucks. Stainless Daytonas are not rare today despite what others (read: ADs) tell you.

The last I checked DavidSW was selling BNIB SS daytona for 11200$

Purchased one from an AD in May 2013. Price was $12,000 out the door, and they discounted the watch so that the price included the 8.25% sales tax.

maybe not but truth be told davidsw lists other models at lower than AD prices I guess he does it differently with daytonas only than

bottomline. i know what his site says. I wasnt aware we were supposed to 'negotiate' with 'trusted' sellers i thought that was for AD's only!

im pretty sure hes not listing at 12275.00 only to 'auto' drop $1000 off the price

i follow his prices closely on all models and all of a sudden the daytona is treated differently??? maybe for some but not most

Thanks for all your replies, things have moved very quickly on this end. About to purchase a 2012 SS Black Dial from a respected Forum seller. Lightly used, some scratches and price seems fair. Will be proud to show pictures when I receive the prize.

Perhaps the price on david's website are not the same as his prices on here. Also i assume that on his website he's including the use of credit cards to purchase so expect higher $$$.

i can only comment on what i see. i am also unaware of the fact that one must 'negotiate' with a non AD.

Bob's Watches has about 17 pre-owned 116520 (both Black and White faced) for around $10,200 listed on their website. As others have said, I bet you could get a better deal with Trusted Sellers.

$10200 is a fantastic price for a preowned SS daytona

trusted sellers arent 'giving away' rolexes because your a 'member'

another 'prominent' dealer as popular if not more than david sw is selling a preowned for $10000. thats about the going rate.

not sure what types of experiences you have had, but EVERYONE negotiates.

in my day job people negotiate the cost of my construction projects. EVERY time.

in my hobby job, i have people negotiating the cost of classes and packages at a fitness center.

it is an unfortunate part of life. but if you have not been negotiating, you have been leaving money on the table.

these days ANY seller must put a few bucks on the cost because they will absolutely be asked to come down in price.

and if they are lucky enough that someone is so happy with the price they will just buy the item, good for the seller.

lastly, keep in mind: gray dealers are competing for business just like everyone else. so while they might be more "cost effective" than AD's, they are still competing against other gray dealers. at the same time, they are still trying to get the best margin they can get. they too are trying to make a living.

David sells watches because his prices are competitive. BUT, he also sells watches because his service is STELLAR.

i buy from David, probably too often. And I always ask for something off. Sometimes he says yes, sometimes no. But I still buy from him because his service is so good, and because (most importantly), I trust him.

sorry OP for this thread taking a turn, but i think it is somewhat relevant to your original question.

look around for the watch you want. ask questions and see how well you can do.

in the end, it will all work out.

there are a lot of factors that determine pricing. no one is giving away anything, and that includes $200.

davidsw's prices are on par with other 'reputable' trusted and grey/graydealers

as for the negotiating part? we can agree to disagree. I have no problem negotiating with an AD to lower my price but no interest in haggling with a non-AD over price, i mean thats the point about being a 'trusted seller' or grey dealer" is it not? your SUPPOSED to have cheaper prices than an AD

im sure david drops his 'prices' but hes already listing cheaper than AD's so it wont be that much

that said I have ADs that beat DavidSWs prices but hey, its all about who you are, how many watches you have already purchased in the past etc etc, many variables.

as for the OP? $12000 taxes in from an AD is a fantastic price. fantastic.

i get it. there are different levels of 'pre-worn'. in general however $10000.00 will get you a mint SS Daytona.
