I believe that Rolex made these at the requeest of the UAE importer
for use by the Emir of Dubai Muhammed bin Rashid Al Makktoum, or for
gifts to visiting dignitaries etc. UAE crest in the dial seen here at 6.

Serial Number 5.555.x5x Cal: 3035 water resistance 330ft-100m.
Steel and gold with fluted gold bezel, acrylic crystal with a light
champagne dial bearing the emblem of United Arab Emirates
the legendary "Quraysh Hawk", with quick date change window at 3
and a jubilee steel and gold bracelet reference 62523/H14/D3/455J

Of particular interest is the "Quraysh Hawk" that stands out on the UAE crest crafted in different ‘padded layers’ which creates a peculiar tri-dimensional effect. At the centre of the hawk, symbol of the United Arab Emirates, stands a polychrome enameled Arabian sailboat, which is replaced today by the U.A.E. federation flag.

The UAE consists of seven Arab nations called Emirates, i.e. Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Fujaira, Ras al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al Quwain. This federation is represented by one single symbol, the Quraysh hawk (the Quraysh is the dominant tribe who settled in Mecca
