Obsessive or Normal?
First post, and don’t actually own a Rolex yet, but the company I work for gives one to each employee if they make it to a 10 year anniversary. Next year (yes, 2015!), I’ll be getting mine! I’ve already talked to my boss, who’s a watch guy himself, about upgrading the default Air King to a Daytona, and ever since have been on TRF everyday looking at all your watches and dreaming! So I ask – obsessive or normal for these luxurious watches??!?!

That sounds perfectly normal to me, but everybody on TRF has a few loose screws, so who knows...

A Rolex for 30 or 40 years service would be amazing but 10 years is extremely generous.

One wonders why they go this route and not just give a cash bonus of some kind? Regardless, it is a very generous and unique gift, let me wish you a slightly premature congratulations and happy wearing of that fine timepiece!!

I have to say, there's nothing like receiving a watch to commemorate some kind of accomplishment in life. I reached a minor sales goal at a job long time ago, and they rewarded me with a basic Fossil watch, but it became one of my all-time favorites and I wore it 24/7 for a couple of years.

Don't get me wrong - I will need to pay the difference. But, the way I look at it, it'll be the only time in my life when I can get a new Daytona at 40%-ish off the AD's price. The company is ok paying the $5K for the Air King...not the Daytona list price!

The company I work for, a multinational company with 120,000 worldwide, gives $25 value 10 year anniversary gifts. But CEO gets hundreds of million in salary and bonuses every year |

My company gives SS Datejust for service award, but not until 25 years. They do allow upgrades at our expense.

Well I for one would take the watch, forget the upgrade, and save for the Daytona.
