Another New 116600
See attached. Any advice on a third to fill out the collection. I think a black face SS Daytona?
Also question for someone with both a 116600 and a 16600, is the glass edge bevelled more in the newer one? It seems to catch the light nicely from the side. Lovely watch, feels like the money... |

Congrats! I'm playing the waiting game in my part of town.
The 214270 actually looks bigger than the SD in that pic but I'm sure it's just the bezel effect. |

Good pair the daytona would certainly complete it - white or black but maybe white :)

Does the shortness of the lugs change the way it feels on the wrist i.e. less balanced?

Yes I rather like the white face Daytona, change it up a bit as you say.
The Explorer obviously has a much larger dial so it can give the illusion of being bigger. I'd class the Explorer as the most comfortable and discreet watch Rolex make. I often have to check I'm wearing it as it doesn't feel like there is anything else there at all. With the SD, the watch is resting on the case back as there's probably 5mm of depth before you get to the case. So it you feel much more of the weight through that point whereas the Explorer spreads the weight more. Also, as well as the bevelled glass difference from the 16600, the 116600 seems to have a spring loaded bezel i.e. you can push down on it. Wonder what that's for as Rolex don't do anything for no reason...?? |

Huge congrats on that instant classic Rolex!
I've noticed the slightly more beveled crystal, too... as you say, it catches the light beautifully! As for a second Rolex? I'd go for the Explorer II 216570 white dial!

The beveled crystal... it does seems more beveled but haven't got any SD 16600 to compare it with at hand:
Love the case, too! Beautiful watch!

A third yes on the bevel of the crystal Congrats on a great new addition and another vote for a White 116520 or perhaps a GMT

No the SD wears much larger than the Explorer, mainly due to the depth of the case.
Ok, ok, Daytona AND GMT AND Explorer II then... When I was picking mine up, the chap said someone had bought 3 Rolexes that day from the shop, all on finance! Bonkers. |

Another yes to bevelled crystal
A poor photo but shows the way the light reflects through the bevel:

It's actually a pretty cool design...if you search TRF, there are some good schematic drawings floating around of the system (I remember seeing them when the DSSD was revealed). |
