9300 crazy
it started a couple months ago, when I snagged one of the new 46mm beastly Planet Ocean Chronos. Sized the watch, put it on. Everything seemed in place - large yet comfortable, functional and well-placed (read: beautiful). The dual hands on the chrono subdial at 3 topped it off. Could this be a keeper for a watch whore like me? Who knows.
Couple weeks later, I received a small package of goods including few of the new Speedies with the same 9300 movement. The case looked familiar yet... different, nicer. Larger than the original, sure, but again - very comfortable. And truth be told, I prefer the dual subdial layout to the original, it is much more balanced and the date does not look like it is crammed in there. Plus oversized and raised crystal on the back, showing even more of that magnificent engine. Could I break every one of my own rules, and not only keep two from the same brand - but the same exact function? Since getting both of them, I have worn one or the other. My Offshore was nervously smoking in the corner. Yesterday, the fedex man brought me yet another 'curveball'. The LiquidMetal. All I can say is damn. Same yet so different - and again, a stunner. I must be losing my mind. and, as the kids say, "dat ass" The Speedie is in my office at the moment, Monday I'll snap a few pics of the awesome threesome. The Offshore was flipped yesterday, bye bye. Zero regrets.

These do wear more comfortably than you'd think. I tried on a few more in the Chicago boutique this weekend and the Speedmaster 57 was better than I remembered it. But there was no way I could have three Omegas when my rule is "one per brand" and I've already broken it with my Seamaster 2225.80 and Speedmaster 9300. I mean rules are rules...

The are beauties! If my little wrist were a little larger I'd strap a 9300 on myself.
Your pics are awesome! |

LOL>>Greg, your post is very well articulated...it is so original, like a conversation and reflects such real sentiment of pleasure and sharing the love for the 9300...and we can sure see why...those are really smokin' hot pieces (as the kids say ;) ) very very cool trio, and really, despite the similarity of movement, they are so different as to be comfortable together in a collection

One of my new rules is that I only buy watches with adjustable bracelets (if possible). Such a great watch and beautiful bracelet deserves an adjustable clasp. I know its a diver and the clasp is built for that, but the DSSD and Ploprof both pulled it off, not to mention the Sub.
When that day comes, Greg will be sending me one of those beauties!

In the meantime, us PO owners have to buy extra half-links (which are really more like 2/3 links) for fine adjustment. |

I picked up a Speedmaster Mark II a week ago, and it has an adjustable clasp similar to the Ploprof. You can adjust it up to 9.6 mm. At the local Omega boutique, they said to expect this type of clasp to make its way to other models.
