Wider Bracelet For Submariner?

Hi, Everyone. I'm new to Rolex and new to this forum. My wife recently gave me a Submariner for our wedding anniversary. I love the size and look of the face, bezel, etc. My only complaint is that the bracelet tapers to a noticeably thin width at the clasp. I would love it so much more if the bracelet was the same width from the lugs to the clasp. Does such a bracelet exist? Thanks in advance for any help!

It's the 20mm to 16mm taper that make the classic Oyster bracelet so damn comfortable.

If it helps, the bracelet taper won't be noticeable to anyone but you. And like Dan said, thats what makes it so comfy.

I agree with you. I think the problem is the lugs got wider which also works to make the bracelet seem too narrow not only where it meets the lugs but also all the way around. I found the same issue and sold my sub-c. Replaced by SD-c.

If you prefer a non-tapering bracelet, check out the Tudor Pelagos because the bracelet does not taper very much at all, giving it a much beefier appearance by the clasp.

No. You could always trade it in for an Omega Planet Ocean; their bracelets dont taper. However, having had both models I believe the Sub to be more comfortable because of the Rolex oyster bracelet. I recently purchased the Sub C date and have found the bracelet to be even more comfortable due to the glidelock clasp!

I agree. A tapered bracelet is a more complex thing and requires some excellent machining. It's art and functionality

Totally understand your issue. You have an awesome watch there. You can try other watches to get a bracelet you like but they are not Rolex. Maybe try some strap combos. So many guys here use them. You might could even have one custom made to your specs.

Honestly, you will get used to the look.

If you don't think that's possible, you can always go with the huge list of strap options in the aftermarket.

Dan is exactly correct..The oyster bracelet is the most comfortable bracelet I've ever worn.

Its funny, when ever I see a watch with a bracelet that is as thick as the lugs I immediately think "Cheap bling watch" I see the taper as elegance as well as comfort. Rolex knows what they are doing.

Totally disagree with this 100%

OP give it a try for a little while, I am willing to bet that the comfort will win over the taper effect in your mind.

Or try a NATO band; they don't taper at all.

Either way, welcome to TRF...

My PO tapers 2mm.

My GMTc is by far my most comfrtable watch and I believe much of this is a result of the bracelet.

I actually found this forum, looking for wider bracelets for Rolex.
Totally disagree with wider bracelets being cheap. Especially when Tudor has a model bracelet that doesn't taper.
The Sub clasp is way too narrow, at only 18mm (16mm on the bracelet).
I'm looking into buying a SDDS, and such a narrow clasp bothered me when I first tried it on. But I wouldn't wear it with a leather strap or nato.
Let's see if I get used to it...

Also, don't kill me, but I would love if I could have the MilSub sword hands on the SDDS. Not much of a fan of mercedes hands...
