I recently became an owner of a Rolex about 2 months ago.
Before that I was so crazy about acquiring a Rolex.
I just seemed to have lost the hype.
Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?

Today you bought a Rolex for very good reasons. This is fine, you can now enjoy your Rolex for many years to come.

Tomorrow you will buy either a Leica camera or some such other bauble, that is what men do.

You are a normal human being.

I don't think it's just you - I think Rolex's are pretty boring to look at.

Whilst there is no denying they are excellent tool watches and as reliable as they come...there is very little 'detail' and you can't see the movement.

I'd look for something with a see through case back if I was you.

Bored? No, it's just a watch and does what I expect it to do. I can see the 'shine' wearing off it a bit, if you'll excuse the pun, but it's similar with many other things in life (but not all).

Maybe if you venture into 'vintage' you won't get bored; there's so much variety and other factors involved (history/provenance etc.)

It happened to me also. I sold it and bought another Omega. Two years later I still much happier.

Nope. I'll never tire of waking up and slipping my GMT on my wrist. Mechanical watches are amazing and Rolexes truly are a superlative example of them.

Bored? No. Not hyped? Sure. I mean you have been checking out the forums for 3 plus years, in your words, crazy about acquiring a rolex. Finally 2 months ago, you pull the trigger, and bam! You own a nice watch... That's it. It doesn't go fast, get you more women, nor massage your wrist. The hunt for these things is half the fun. Maybe you picked out the wrong one for yourself. Flip it, and find the one that sings to you

I have gotten bored of acquiring additional watches in general since I got my Rolex. There are maybe 1 or 2 other Rolexes I'd be interested in if I had the cash lying around but after buying my 1st Rolex I am no longer driven to save and acquire new watches. Three months in I cannot stop staring at my BLNR. I still track its accuracy daily.

I think you are right as after several years I enjoy putting my Rolex on everyday, you will not tire of the right one, I guess that applies to life in general

I get this way with cars not my watches. - The only cure is to get another one on your radar - you will be bored with that one in two months as well - it a vicious cycle.

I think it has to do with the wait. For me, if I wait too long to acquire an object, I read all I can about it, and when I finally own it, it feels like I had it a long time. It has happened with the IWC Portuguese. After choosing other watches, when I finally tried it on, the hype was gone. BUT since I got my Pepsi, I cant seem to wear any other watch. Obsessed is the word! Flip it!

Determine what your "grail" piece is and work to obtain it. Generally if it is something that has a lot of thought behind it the boredom will not come some quickly.
