Tissot PRS 16 Extreme Chrono or Oris Aquis Date?

I am looking for a daily wear sports watch and shortlisted these 2.

The Tissot uses the C01.211 movement based on Lemania 5100. A simple and cheaper alternative to the ETA 7750. I am not sure on the performance of this movement or how proven it is.

The Oris uses a SW200 movement. This has been used by many other major brands as well due to shortage of ETA supply.

Price wise, i find the Tissot is a bit on the high side. Probably due to costs spent on aesthetics such as the black PVD side case, detailed dial, chronograph pushers and crown.

The PRS 16 is quite a huge beast. The Oris is more subtle and should fit medium wrist sizes well.

Oris in a second. Not even close. I would prefer the Oris model without the orange numerals however that is only a personal thing. I think Oris make a great watch for the money. Good luck!

I traded a DJ and Oris Aquis date to get the watch you have already. The Oris was a nice watch which I thought was a good move at the time, with hindsight I should have waited and put some extra money towards buying a Tudor or maybe an Omega diver, have you thought about those for example?

I would fancy a Tudor Heritage Black Bay or Seamaster Planet Ocean anytime but these are about twice the price of the Tissot and Oris.

The Tissot chrono movement is completely unfinished and downgrade on the specs (plastic parts and 21600 vph instead of 28800 vph).

This makes the Oris good value for money.

I am a huge tissot fan and own some that have performed very well over a decade but I would still,in this case and price segment, think the oris is a safer purchase...that oris will be easier time sell later, can be had for a great price second hand and is smaller in size and has higher water resistance...the tissot, while I am sure would performance just as well as I have great experience with their products, but in this particular comparison, this model is quiet large and expensive compared to what a toast buyer buys so it will be tougher to buy second hand, and hence cheaper, and to sell later.

I must add, purely in terms of design and looks and function, I wouldn't hesitate to go for this tissot. :)

I like the T-Race and new PRS 516 Extreme Chrono models. Very well built sports watches.

But there is a lot of cost cutting with their new chrono movement.

I would go for Tissot PRS 516 Extreme in a heartbeat.
And here's why - it's moderately priced, wonderfully built watch, and above all of that - it's automatic chronograph, one thing that you don't see every day in this price range.

And about C01.211 movement...
Well, sometimes less knowledge is actually more.
The problem is in just one word - plastic.
And, actually, it shouldn't be!

We all assume that movement that goes in 300$ Swatch watches must be something of lesser quality, but things are not that simple.
In recent years, Swatch Group did marvelous job with introducing "new" movements in their mid-range brands. And those "new" movements are, actually, based on ages old designs.

So, now we have Powermatic 80 in Tissot and Certina (basically ETA 2824 with slower beat rate), and aforementioned C01.211, heavily (and I mean REALLY heavily) based on Lemania 5100.
Recently, Swatch Group even revamped Lemania brand for one limited run of automatic chronographs and guess what movement they used?
Well, C01.211, of course!
I think that C01.211 is pretty safe choice, I have one for years (Tissot PRC 200) and it's one of my most accurate watches, very well built and operating it's chrono pushers and winding crown feels very similar, if not identical, with Lemania 5100.

Of course, it's up to your personal liking which watch would you choose, and Oris is very respected brand, deservedly so, it's just...
I'm very impressed with new PRS 516 Extreme that I'm totally biased about it, so my vote goes for Tissot!
