Could I have the 3186 movement???

I have a Z7......, 16710, Pepsi
AD stamped in 11/07
No wiggle

Is there any way to tell if there is a 3186 movement in the watch without cracking the case back off and looking? That I do not want to do, have no interest in that. Watch runs dead on.

Only way to tell is to have the caseback removed, I am afraid. But that's not a big deal for an AD watchmaker.

The GMT II 16710 that was reported to have the PB hairspring was an M-series, btw.

Sheldon made an article about it.

Click.

You might. Opening the watch is the best way to tell. Personally I could wait for service before opening.

From the webpage... According to what is below, it might be a 3185.... Take to an AD and crack the back to find out... Looks like you just might be on the bubble...

wchiang discovered the following:

Commonly seen on older 16710 - Roman II
Z77XXXX - 3185 Rectangular II
Z96XXXX - 3186 Stick II
M23XXXX - 3186 Stick II
M23XXXX - 3186 Rectangular II
M30XXXX - 3186 Stick II
M30XXXX - 3186 Stick II
M36XXXX - 3186 Stick II
MXXXXXX - 3186 Stick II reported by Tahoeblue (above)

Possibly, but as others say you need to pop it open for certainty. I've tried som Z6-serial Explorers without any wiggle of the 24 h hand, but serial number might not neccesary indicate production date as I have heard the numbers are random. Do you know when your specific watch was delivered to the AD? The later, the more certain of having a 3186.

Best,

A

Watch was bought from US AD 11/07, Z7xxx, serial number, but there is no way of telling when AD got watch and when manufactured by Rolex.
The watch keeps dead on time, no wiggle, I have no intention of cracking the back open. Was hoping there was another way, but that is OK, the suspense is fine with me.
