Icon4 Why NOTto buy watches on ebay if your a newbie

Check this out- it looks like the real deal- boxes instruction etc ( all fake)- you would think this was real if you did not read carefully and didn't know what too look out for. I have reported it please do the same. Please read it carefully and i have just noticed he has amended his listing with additional information.

1. Not once does he say it is authentic
2. there are no actual papers
3. he does not have the original reciept

Then the real givaway for me.."I have nothing to add to the description, please bid on whats written here only"

he is a cunning linguist

I would have been had by that. I assume you are correct, but what is it about the watch that actually is the give-away? Just because he doesn't SAY its authentic doesnt mean it isnt - does it? There seems to be a photo of papers in his ad, I dont know what comes with a Panerai, so I have nothing to compare to...

I just thought that you 'd point smth out on the photos - which, by the way, look real...

Yeah the photos look great but panerias a re very easy to copy- jewellers can often not tell the difference until opening the case

Cliff- if you had a watch for sale im sure you would say it was 100% authentic. He is using stupid jargon and trying to omit the facts

Do ebay take your report seriously? I would have thought it would be difficult to convince them he's up to no good because he hasnt used a word in his advert? I see what you mean about the shady wording, and I've no doubt you're right (didnt realise Pan's were so easily faked - looks pretty good!), but surely if there are no visual tell-tales ebay cant do anything?

You can report it for disclaimers about authenticity. what does this suggest to you.

"have received lots of questions asking for Original purchase receipt, complete papers, money back guarantee and others, I would like to say it again what I've mention in my listing "I have nothing to add to the description, please bid on whats written here only"

Secondly basic Panerais are not very complicated watches- the level of detail between this watch and a rolex is miles apart

Yup, Im convinced he's a shady bastid. Its a good thing the guys on here with experience are trying to protect others out there. It would be so easy to get burnt.

Just looked at his feedback- he has sold a fake watch before and got a negative for it. I know its not expensive but still a fake

good catch,
I would have been weary because of his wording as well, but some people will look at the pics and the cheap price and will let themselves "talk" their self into taking a chance, you just have to remember,if they where real the seller would most definitely state that they where.
