5980/1A (white) or 5960/1A

Just received a call from my AD.. Out of surprise while I am STILL waiting for my 5235G (I missed the opportunity recently due to my traveling schudule), I am being offered both double sealed 5980/1A (white) and the 5960/1A both at the same price.

I owned a 5980/1A briefly (for only a week) before, sold it to a good friend who love the watch more than I do during that time and now I kinda regret cos I like even more now than ever and getting a brand new double sealed is not easy. I think out of all the SS 5980, the white dial is least popular.. I only seen them in the wild couple of times while the black and blue are common (I love the blue btw)

The 5960/1A is really hot right now and it is one of the latest PP, hence will be a great addition maybe might end up too popular? No?

PS. I am buying the watch for my own use. Daily beater.

Love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you in advance for your kind feedbacks! .. Jane

I'd get the 5960/1a over the 5980/1a. I'd get a 5990/1a over a 5960/1a.

Both are great watches, but both at the same price? Isn't that a significant discount for the 5960/1A as the 5980/1A should be in the 40K range?

If the 5960/1A is being offered at that price I wouldn't hesitate and get the 5960 for sure.

But even with a price difference, I do really enjoy the annual calendar complication and would still pick the 5960/1A over the 5980 white dial.

I think 5980 black dial or blue dial is a tougher decision.

Yeah I kinda agree especially considering I owned the same watch before (5980/1A white)... The 5960 is more complicated n a new realease.. But I worried they might be too common.. I seen like 4 in the wild so far n maybe 10 here on TRF maybe thousands on instagram LOL

yes.. I am being offered both at the same price, loooooow 40k, both are brand new double sealed.

I'd also go for the 5990, especially if you are travelling a lot and have the 59801r already.

Mmmm. I might be the minority in this case but same thing that happened to the 5960p in black is going to happen with the 5980 white. Far less numbers and very rare. I would take that one over the 5960 since the bracelet has way too much bling for my taste. Just my opinion. Good luck with your decision.

Yes I have. My Ad was holding it for me after Christmas break and was turned down by the bracelet. A bit too much for my taste. And the dial.... well... too sporty. Much prefer the on on the 5960p. My two cents.

Hi Logan, what are you saying has happened to the 5960p black? I saw more than one at ADs in London over Xmas so not sure they are selling for a premium (yet).

Hi Russ. Regarding the 5960p sorry if I was not clear. I meant that it has the least run because it was discontinued just after 1 year of production. For the 5980 white it was the same thing... one to two years after production. So, like the 5960p black the 5980 white shoulf have a small production run. I am.trying to locate one... the 5980p black and it has been very difficult. Hope this answers your question?

I don't like much the 5980, so I would say the 5960, the dial is amazing, have yet to love the bracelet but I hear that it needs to be seen in real to appreciate it… So definitely 5960, especially Ken says you have the ultimate 5980, I suppose the full RG one, getting a second one is really redundant, a chrono with AC is much nicer IMO...

Cracks me up because this was the only nautilus I could find in abundance across ADs along the east coast the last two years! Some had 2 or 3 on display! Such is life!

I don't think so, the collectors want the blue dial, not the white one, if it was only produced 2 years there is a reason...

Does that applies to the 5960P black dial too?

You guys do have a valid point, maybe I should get the 5960 as something different instead of yet another 5980.

Just out of coriousity.. The 5960/1a retail more than the 5980/1a? I thought they are the same price? I don't know what's the MSRP here. I just know the price my AD quoted me which is US$40K for the 5960 n US$41K for 5980.

HAGWE everyone... Thank you so much for your kind feedbacks n great advise! .. Jane

I like the 5960/1A. It reminds me of the circus. No, really. It makes me happy...

40k usd for the 5960/1a? To be fair I am not sure how pricing works where you are but that's around 10k less than I've seen them for sale on this site. I'm fairly certain I've seen them listed around 52k here.
