1984 Rolex GMT two tone- original price..?
Does anyone have the link that shows the original prices on vintage Rolex models. I have a 1984 year Rolex GMT 16753; I am curious to find out the original price.

Here's the 1980 list. http://www.rolexephemera.com/misc-ma...elist-1980.htm
I'd guess you could add about 15% onto those prices for 1984 cost. Probably around 2500 usd I'd guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Comparison
Using 2,000 dollars as a reference for comparison of 1984 dollars-
I could have purchased nearly two years of my college tuition for that amount back then, or I could paid rent for nearly seven months. Put another way, 2k for me back in 1984 was hard to come by back then... Quote:

What's really interesting is that the 1675 retailed for $900 and the 1675/8 retailed for $7750. That's over 8.5x as much.
The difference in price between SS and gold current models is nowhere near that. |

Yes, I saw that as well. So much money to buy solid gold. I believe that the all precious medal models must be a smaller market segment. I couldn't ever imagine wearing a solid gold watch, yet here I sit with a two tone gmt as a my new favorite.

Wrong year to pick for a steel to gold comparison.
Gold really spiked in 1980. Hit $730/oz. Equivalent to $2,200+ an ounce today. |
