Bracelet pins on my 'new' 114060?
Hi all,
Well, I've bitten the bullet, thrown away all reason (I had my heart set on a 14060M!) and bought a 114060 that was on TRF's classifieds a couple of weeks ago. It came on an orange rubber dive strap and was priced accordingly. This was absolutely fine by me as the watch is going on a NATO anyway; I can't get on with bulky steel bracelets and frankly feel that this watch looks better on nylon with its bigger lugs. My only concern is the bracelet pins. They practically fell out when I came to remove the rubber strap and I certainly didnt need the 'tool' that the seller had provided. It is now on a NATO strap but the pins look just like 'normal' watch pins. I have just removed them using only my fingers because I was curious as to what was engraved on the case (looks like STAINLESS STEEL at 6 O'clock and 'ORIG ROLEX DESIGN 114060' at the 12, although these have been scratched....presumably by someone removing the bracelet !). I'm not sure what I was expecting! Something a bit sturdier perhaps so I dont lose the watch?! I intend to replace them with the same 'shoulderless pins' that I put on my Traser Commander. Even as I write this a small voice is faintly muttering "Fake?" but the seller seems to be well known on the forum and he bought it from DavidSW last year (who has been recommended by lots of you!) so I'll bury THAT thought for the time being. I will post photos of the watch shortly but would appreciate any comments, or better still a photo of someone elses original pins! Thanks for all the previous advice and guidance! |

I can't comment on your problems as my 114060 has never left the bracelet - may be useful to throw up a few pics of the watch as you mention. Hope you find the answers you're looking for

First off, congrats, I also picked up an 114060 from DavidSW 2 weeks ago.
Your Sub-C is labeled correctly, and the only place for the serial is around the inside at 6 o'clock position the rest reads Rolex repeating. You probably do not have original pins as the originals are thicker and will not go through the holes on aftermarket straps. Someone here will be able to hook you up with original spring pins which are stronger and more reliable. I also dumped my original strap and use a NATO "Bond" strap now and love it. |

Sorry, by in this case I mean in the case of the OP's new purchase... not the actual watch case, but the situation... I think I am confusing the matter

Snapped a photo of the original pins that came with sub ceramic while I was swapping out the bracelet.
Hope it helps! |

Shoulderless bars and no lug holes is NOT the way to go unless you plan on clipping them off later on with hardened steel cutters. Use them with a no lug holes case and a SEL bracelet and you'll be SOL when it comes time to remove them

No dramas there. I dont intend to use the watch with anything but a NATO strap and have the tools to remove them should I ever change my mind.

I know it's rare but we have heard on forum the nato straps catching on the spring bar shoulders and popping them out!
Personally I'd fit shoulderless spring bars and just cut out when required! |
