Not been around for a while

But I am very pleased to say that I bought a 40mm red GMT hand white face Explorer II last week. I have had 3 Explorer 1's in the past, originally, a new 80's Plexiglass model. I also had a Pepsi GMT Master II

For a few years I only had a JLC Reverso DuoTime, feeling I only needed one watch but our opinions change hence the purchase of this mint 1997 Explorer II which has been totally refurbished and comes with a standard 2 year Warranty, box and papers.

It currently gains about 4 seconds a day but I expect better accuracy once it gets used to my use.

A question if I may, What do the group think of watch winders? My Reverso is hand wind but my new Explorer II being automatic may warrant one, although I read that it is good to let a watch rest when not been used, you might comment on this, thank you

Nice example, as for winders, you'll start WW III with mention of that

Personally, I've had many of my watches on winders for years without any issues; it makes life simple and easy to get out of the house in the morning.

Very beautiful explorer. I have also tried to be a one watch guy but that didn't last long

Nice explorer
Personally, I prefer to set my watch and wind it up. Part of the enjoyment

Very nice watch, I like the more discreet TZ hand in your model. As for winders, I recently read an article that recommended against one. Can't recall the specifics, but it's unnecessary in my opinion.

Of great interest to me is your Reverso. I've had my eye I the Duo for some time now, it is, to me, an exquisite timepiece, and would slot in very nicely with current collection. How was it under regular wear? Servicing needs? Reliability?

I'm used to the tank like solidity of a Rolex or other sports watches, not that I'm rough on a time piece, but I'm curious about its durability on a day, in day out basis.

The Reverso is by a country mile my favourite watch and, yes, worn daily without any issues in fact since buying the Explorer II I have hardly worn my JLC and I quite miss the ritual of winding it every morning. I cannot recommend this maker more highly. I originally bought a JLC Grande Taille which has a plain steel back but I changed it for the Duo Time which has the second time zone in black and the 24hr clock instead of a second hand

Congrats! Great piece, I usually just wind and set mine as needed versus putting them on a winder.

Awesome watch...congrats! As for a winder, no need. Save that money and put it toward the next watch.

I like having a winder. I have the cheapie from brookstone (if you consider $150 cheap). It works. It makes a little noise here and there, heh.
