Service Coke vs. Tradeup GMT II ceramic?

First post! Have a 2007 Coke GMT II, originally running about +4 secs, now 8 years later about +7 secs. Bracelet a bit scratched up as well. Also have an '07 Sea Dweller and 2013 Nodate Submariner ceramic. The question I am having, is it worth the $800 service fee to keep the older, more casual Coke, or save the money and kick in extra to trade up to the ceramic GMT, probably BLNR? I do rather like the solidity of the new bracelets, but prefer the all-brushed style of the old. Also, I do like the color scheme of the Coke, though I like the look of the ceramic material on the new. Decisions, decisions!

I would trade up. You can always get the bracelet brushed pretty easily.

I would keeping. I'm looking to add an older coke or Pepsi to my collection actually. But if u don't feel the same about it as you did 8 years ago, maybe trade it.

I've been considering trading my 16710 Pepsi for the BLNR and can't seem to do it. I think the PCLs weigh heavily on me. But nothing beats the update bracelets on the new sports models and I'm a big fan of ceramic.

I have the 16710 Coke, circa 2006 or so, also. I love the hell out of it. I actually prefer it to my black ceramic 116710 and will be trading up the newer 116710 for a white Daytona, most likely.

Keep the 16710. You'll be glad you did.

If you no longer "feel' the older 16710 get a new GMT-C in black, tt, or blue&black.

Happy hunting!

Regardless if you will sell it or not, send in to service. When you get it back you can keep a like new watch or sell a recently serviced watch for more money than before.

I would service and keep your Coke. These classics are getting harder to come by, especially a late model like the one you have.

I'd keep that 16710 but if you're bored with it, trade up. Think hard before letting it go because those 5-digit GMTs are getting expensive to reacquire.
Welcome to TRF.

Depending on what movement your GMT has, it could be very desirable and rare! Keep it and save for a ceramic, don't regret selling it.

Keep the icon. The prices are only increasing and good ones getting harder to find. Plenty of ceramic are around and on the used market the GMT II C prices are actually flattening out.

3 seconds wouldn't bother me at all. I do like the BLNR though and I have a Coke GMT.

interesting that some are calling the 2007 16710 a classic , wow my 1984 8.4 mill serial 16760 must be a relic.

I have a D serial Coke, which I bought from a trusted seller in unworn condition. I would not trade it for anything. It's spectacular. I'll add to my collection some day, but the Coke stays.
Keep it. Service it. Just buy another without sacrificing the Coke because you'll no doubt regret it selling it later.

Utimately, a BLNR came in and I splurged and added, kept the Coke, too.

Good decision! They're both great watches. I'm shopping for a 16710 to go with my newer ceramic.

Why are you paying $800 for a service? Ouch! Is that the RSC or through an AD? There are many independents who do it for less.

IMO, service the GMT and save up for the IIc
