Flipping an SD4K for a DSSD....
Anyone done this? How crazy thick is the DSSD? It would be for everyday wear. Thanks!

I did just the other way round.
Depends on your job if you would like a dssd daily. Its tall and not easy to fit under standard cuffs. Definitely heavier than the SD4 too. Swings more than the SD4 due to the top heft, IMO less comfortable than SD4 I will say. I do miss the dome cystal though. |

I prefer what you have particularly under shirt sleeves

I would see the sd4k then buy from a trusted seller. Did just as you did and love the dssd.

I think the new Sea Dweller is perfect. I am not an owner but it didn't take me long to realize that this is one of the best modern adaptations of a classic. The DSSD is a great watch, just not for me.

I almost bought the Deepsea Blue.... But seemed little to extreme for me. I like how proportioned the SD4K is. I still believe its the perfect diver Rolex makes. I been loving mine, dress it up or down, hiking or swimming. The perfect watch IMO.

I flipped the DSSD for SDc. I just found the DSSD too thick for my 6.5" wrist. SDc is perfect.

Definitely try on the DSSD if you haven't already.
I love it in a collection but the case is too thick for me as a daily wearer. |

I used to have the DSSD, found it to be top heavy and big for my wrist, flipped it, never looked back.

Same here for the Subc. It wears smaller like a 42mm looking down on the wrist as it has a small dial, but alas it was a little too thick under shirts and tight sweaters but fine for t-shirts.

Only you can make this decision. Flip away if you really want it.

Make sure you see the DSSD, and try it on in person first. While I still love mine after about 4 years of ownership, I also know that it is not a watch for most people.

Love my DSSD & always thought the SD4000 should have been 42mm you'd probably not be having this dilemma if it were!
You need to try it on & a black dial Explorer II whilst your there :) |

I definitely would not do it. Have you tried on the DSSD? You need to because the side was very off putting to me.

I'm very tempted to get a dssd and go linear on my collection but having had the dssd before, I'm really thinking twice on that beast.

Keep in mind that not only is thickness potentially an issue, but also weight. My DSSD is just over 200 g with the diver extension and a couple of links removed. SubC is about 150 g sized for me. The additional weight of the DSSD is positioned on top. SubC feels more balanced.
But I love the wrist presence of the DSSD. Won't fit under buttoned shirt sleeves with a suit and doesn't accommodate other pieces of clothing, but I love it and work around it. You really aren't going to know if the DSSD is for you until after several weeks of wearing one. For the domed crystal, better Glidelock, fatter hour hand, etc, I enjoy it more than the SubC, and would probably feel similarly vs the SDC. I also really like the case profile and lug shape of the DSSD from the front and sides more than the SubC or SDC. I had a black DSSD before, but now with the D-Blue, the unique dial is another differentiator. By the way, great trio of Rolexes you have, with a nice variety. |

How big is your wrist? - It is pretty tall but not too much if you have a 7.5 or better wrist in my opinion

On the issue of the Deepsea fitting under shirt cuffs, mine fits easily under all shirt cuffs - both button and French cuffs, and I wear slimmer cut shirts - never been an issue

I've owned both. Its about a toss. The SD4K is far more "subtle"

If the DSSD is properly adjusted with the diver extension out I think I wears fine. Wore one daily on my 6.5 inch wrist with no problems

Definitely try on the DSSD as that's the only way to be sure how it will fit and feel.

Not exactly Sd4K. However, I went from SD to DS. No regards.
