New member, first purchase from online question
Hi, I'm looking to purchase my first Explorer 36mm. I love the design at that size and wished that the new model kept the old size.
My question is, how do you guys buy from an online source and know what the movement matches the watch ? When the seller gets a watch, he doesn't actually open it up and verifies that the movement is original to the watch, right ? Is it uncommon to buy a pre-owned by meeting at a dealer first and have them open up the watch and verify ? I'm looking for one in the Minneapolis, MN area so finding a seller here might be difficult. Thanks. |

You have to find a pretty shady seller to find a movement inside that is not the proper one on modern references...

But is it common practice for a seller to open a watch up and verify when he gets a pre-owned watch ? Or does he just check the serial number outside only.

I've found that you're either comfortable sending someone a lot
Of money ... Or you're not. If you must buy ftf and see the movement For yourself, then buy from a brick and mortar. |

Buy the seller. Look at all the references here. I just bought a preowned BLNR last week from davidsw great transaction and could not ask for anymore. First time I did it online and would do it again in a second.

No, it is not common.. It would be easier, and probably done a lot more, if they put a zipper on the back, but they don't

As everyone else has said - Buy the seller. Anyone can sell you a watch but the a good seller will sell you the right watch and help you out if something goes wrong. The true mark of a good seller or store is the after purchase support in the rare case that you may need it. While there are a slew of less then authentic watches out there no proven seller will sully a reputation they've spent years if not decades building over making a few bucks off you. So again, we're just back to - Buy the seller :)

There's a lot of honest people out their selling there Rolex's, sometimes "no risk, no reward" comes into play. Buying from a non proffesional seller can save you a lot of money! I know many on here will disagree, but let's face it, there's a lot of proffesional dealers on here who will say "they gotta eat". If you don't mind being the one feeding them, then shop the seller.
