Icon7 116334 Datejust II Arabic and Rhodium Pics Please?

Howdy,

I was at the AD yesterday visiting a future purchase (Explorer II) and was really taken aback by how much I liked this watch. This was a surprise to me since I associated it with an old man's watch (no offense).

Anyways, does anyone have any pictures they can post? I really like the color of the arabic numbers, the slight sportiness of them, and the contrasting lume which, full disclosure, remind me of lightsabers (yes, I'm a Star Wars geek).

Also, the watch I saw had the fluted white gold bezel. Any thoughts on the advantages/disadvantages of the fluted vs the domed? I always thought I preferred the domed but, again, was surprised at how nice the fluted looked. Not sure how either holds up long term when it comes to scratches, polishing, etc.

Thanks in advance for all of your help. In a perfect world I would get the Explorer II and the DJII but thats not in the budget at this time.

Take care,

Ruddiger

This? It's one of my favorite dials on any watch in the entire Rolex lineup. And I also prefer the fluted bezel, it's a signature design cue of the brand.

My favorite Datejust II dial by far! I've since moved it to buy a YMII... And I find that I actually miss it a lot.

Howdy,

Aside from the obvious, how did you decide between the fluted bezel and the polished one? Considering the price difference is around $2,000 was it worth it to go with the fluted?

Admittedly, I originally thought I preferred the polished bezel, but after seeing the fluted and really liking it, I feel like something is missing on the polished bezel. However, I've only seen this specific model of Datejust II with the fluted bezel so I'm still not totally sure which version I prefer.

In either event, any pics of the smooth bezel would be much appreciated.

Take care,

Ruddiger

Howdy,

Well I finally got to see the smooth domed bezel on this exact model in person and can definitively say that I prefer the fluted bezel better. The way it catches the light, adds to the size of the dial and changes color based upon the lighting was a real charmer.

Additionally, since the Z-Blue Milgauss is also a real possibility the fact that it also comes in a domed bezel make the fluted option the more logical choice on the Datejust II.

Take care,

Ruddiger

Love this reference, but it didn't look great on my wrist or fit well enough for me to pull the trigger. I wanted it, but it just wasn't right...with that said a friend has it and it looks great on him.

Spot on! The fluted bezel is the signature of the DJ in my opinion. Hope to see it on your wrist soon
