Buying a Day Date..nerve wracking
It is a lot of money, a lot. As much as a decent car. But I took the plunge today and bought a white gold 40 with silver face. I had initially ordered a rubber strap Yacht Master (116655) but lost my nerve because it is a 'challenging' design.
So I spent a lot of extra cash, and had to sell four good watches to pay for it all. But it's very nice, heavy and elegant. Still not a big lover of the cyclops, but there you are... I'l work out how to post pics in the next day. New to the forum. From now on, I will be frugal; maybe. Only own two watches now, the Day Date 40 and a nice simple Seiko GS Quartz. Could that be enough? |

Yep it definitely could be enough. You have a special piece there congrats. I am definitely for quality over quantity.

Big congrats on the WG DD 40 and welcome! Your 2 current watches would be enough for rational people, but it's a loaded question to this group.

I suggest you turn back, Peter, before it's too late. This forum should come with a Wallet Warning.
Congratulations on your new watch! You must be thrilled

You are all very kind and welcoming, Thank you. I am wearing the watch now and find myself thinking: 'Surely I can't have spent that much on a watch.' But I am very pleased and will forget the cost quite soon...quality remains after the money is long gone.
I realise I sort-of 'forgot.one of my current watches, (as you do). I have the new DD40, the Seiko GS and...a white gold Rolex Prince. So two white gold Rolex models. When my partner gets home I'l borrow her camera and work out how to load pictures. I told her how much I had spent and she just smiled. A good woman. |

Congrats! It may seem to be enough to own two watches like that and giving the DD a lot of wrist time. But something else will come along the pipeline and catch your eye. For now, yes a good plan and great watches!

Congrats on an awesome choice. Only way to not be tempted with another piece is to smash your computer screen and stop visiting TRF!

Rationally speaking, yes, your collection is enough. But, as said, this isn't a rational hobbie.
