60th Anniversary Day-Date?

Hey guys, not sure if you've seen it or not but Rolex introduced a 60th anniversary Day-Date during Basel, even though, during my meeting with them I was told it is but it isn't a 60th anniversary Day-Date? Absolutely loving the green dial and I think it's one of the best combination current Day-Date lineup.. You can see my thoughts and more images here

The unveiling of the DD40 is huge, as far as I'm concerned. I love the Roman digits and the new calibre 3255 sounds superb.

Per Rolex: "Known as the “presidents’ watch”, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2016. To mark this special occasion, it has been given a bright new dial in green, Rolex’s hallmark colour.

This special version of the Day-Date 40 is available exclusively in 18 ct Everose or white gold. It features the characteristic fluted bezel associated with the model since 1956."

I believe you are correct that the timing is intentional, it just isn't being marketed specifically as an anniversary piece. Wonderful photos - thank you! I already know I want a Gold/Champagne/Roman configuration, just need to wait until I can pick one up on the used market in a few years' time.

There are already some samples in the stores (here in the Uk anyway). The problem for me is the use of Roman numerals, which I find clutter-up the dial, a very personal thing.
If you like the Roman numerals there is also the choice of a great deep blue colour. I went for striped silver, which has a quiet elegance, I think! But that's because I wanted the stick markers with the lume.
As I've said before, pity you can't independently choose the markers and the dial. Then I would have had the deep blue with stick markers; but that option is not offered.

Love these new DD 40 models. I'm a sports watch guy at heart, but this is extremely tempting. Especially that blue sunburst in WG. That watch is amazing.

love the color , batons would be sweet , even a greed backing to day date , maybe with gold writing ,,,, the white throws off the simplicity , just my thoughts ,,, but i wouldnt say no , got to be a future classic , if only they do it for one year only.

It looked good in real life, green goes both dark forest and light olive.

I doubt we will be seeing any discounts on this particular model, personally.

I have sticks on my DJII and it is a very classy look, but to me, those Romans look gorgeous.

I really love it too with the RG. Unfortunately, I already added a chocolate RG waffle dial piece, so this is not one I will chase.

That being said, I am sure this dial is fantastic in various lighting.

Can't wait to see it in real life. The Everose Gold and green Roman dial should be a stunner.

15% discount at my jewler for mine. Bottom line was still about $3000 higher than grey market. Includes 10-year warranty and first servicing at no charge.

That is the prettiest green dial I've seen on a Rolex; very desirable for certain.
