Submariner 1680 year of manufacture?

I'm trying to determine the exact year of manufacture of my father's red SUB.

By the way, t's easy to tell that it's a MK VI. Serial is 3.81 M , so we're between 1973 and 1974, I guess? Anyone could tell if the bezel have ever been darker or it's a different "grey" bezel?

It's not possible to know the exact year of manufacture - 73 or 74 is probably correct. Older pieces would have a date on the inside case back but not beyond 1972. The insert would have started black and has faded to grey.
