New Daytona Easy to Get?

The title says it all. I am curious; it seems like there are a lot of incomings lately for the new Daytona. When I saw the redesign I assumed, based on the scarcity of the old Daytona, that this was going to be THE hardest watch to get for the next couple of years. However; incomings are poping up all over. Today I was offered a black dial from my AD, I had to turn it down because the white has my heart. My AD assured me I would not lose my place in line.

So, my question is; are members here a select group because of what we buy, or is Rolex making more Daytona C's then they did of the previous Daytona?

Rolex is most likely producing a very steady amount of Daytona C's to release...

I highly doubt their business plan is to "artificially limit production for a couple of years to build hype for maximum profits..."

Any issues securing a watch is simply due to above average demand. The Daytona C is not a limited edition piece. These are going to be around for years and easily available once the early adopters get theirs.

*cough* iPhone hype *cough*

It's a function of a watch being more in demand than in supply. Once production ramps up further, they won't be impossible to get hands on as they may seem to be right now

I expect it will be as easy (or difficult) as getting a 116520. After all, they're not producing a brand new watch. They're putting a ceramic bezel, which they already manufacture for the RG and platinum models, on the existing watch. And in the case of the white, changing the dial.

It's no surprise to me that we're seeing these ahead of the other new releases.

Mind you, I'm not minimizing the awesomeness of the watch. I love it, and will most likely be getting one as soon as I can.

I don't remember incomings of a single 'new' model with this frequency since the Black Bay Black last year.

I think TRF members are an exception to the norm. We buy a ridiculous amount of watches annually and normally get called on all new models. Before I acquired this sickness my AD would not really bother in putting anything aside for me. It is a little different now, by a long shot.

I don't think it will be like the 520, there will be a steady stream as we are seeing. Looks like they have been so hyped already Rolex don't feel the need to stimulate it by restricting supply very much, Rolex do seem an altogether more user-friendly firm than a few years ago.

Loyal customers will get first shot. The watch world has just built up a lot of hype over this watch. When the hype dies, the watch will be more readily available. The BLNR is a perfect example.

Was the blnr popular in 2013/2014? Or did it not pick up steam for a while ?

New Daytona Easy to Get?

A forum is a warped view of the watch world.

Yes, it is a select group because many key into being the first to have something new or are simply more knowledgeable about product minutiae...and the ins and outs of where to buy.

The average Joe would likely first encounter the Daytona in a print advert, billboard or while browsing in a shop. He would not likely have been salivating over one or followed Rolex release history / internet photo chops and rumors ad nauseam.

I called all the ADs around me and no one has the BLNR

Looks like I'll have to sound a thousand bucks and buy a mint one from TRF.

I could be wrong but maybe due to lighting? as there is a hint of blue on the lower bracelet as well.
