DEEPSEA vs. GMT Master II C -Dial Diameter

Measuring the actual usable dial inside the rehaut ring on the new DEEPSEA against the actual dial inside the ROLEXROLEXROLEX ring on the GMT Master II Ceramic, does anyone know the actual measurement (circumference) of these two dials?

In looking at the pictures below, it appears to me that you get no increase in dial, hands, or lume on the new DEEPSEA despite it being a far thicker and bigger watch.

Also, since there are no curved lugs on the DEEPSEA, and the watch lugs sit higher than the caseback, it appears that the watch rides high on the wrist leaving a gap between the wrist and the bracelet that can't be fixed for anyone with less than a 7.75 inch wrist (guessing here). Anyone know if that's correct?

That's a good question about the circumference. I haven't compared the two watches in person but I have a feeling that the dial circumference on the DEEPSEA would be just about the same as on the GMT II-C, if not only slightly larger than the GMT.

As to your second question, yes the watch does sit higher on the wrist because of its thicker case. I am not too sure about a gap issue though.

I have measured my DSSD vs Sub using metal rulers :P

28mm on the DSSD and 29mm on the Sub

Having had both of them side by side I have always thought the there was now size difference between the dials on the sub and the dssd. Only done by eye though

I don't know the answer to your question about the dial, but the Bblue is absolutely stunning in person.

As for the case, the DSSD had thinner looking lugs compared to the Submariner which give it a bit of an old school look IMO. The case back is also less pronounced and with the diver extension removed, sits flat on my 7" wrist.

Likely the same or very close. The range of professional watches share mostly similar hour and minute hands. The subs and seadweller use thinner hour hands, but the entire range seem to use the same thick minute hands

Sub vs GMT vs DSSD

So this is all telling me that the DSSD has the same size ACTUAL DIAL, as the Sub and the GMT. Am I reading this right? Think so!

The Sub and DSSD use the same movement and thus same dial dimensions as the date wheel aperture distance from the center is the same on both (unlike, say, a 42MM Explorer II).

Although the case and chapter ring/rehaut are different between the Sub and DSSD, the movement and subsequent dial dimensions are the same.
