First Rolex
Hello, I have recently got interested into watches and have decided to purchase my first Rolex. I was wondering if purchasing a Sky Dweller in yellow gold would be not a good choice as my only watch. I am currently 19 and am going to college. Would i be able to get away with wearing this watch everyday? Or should I look at something like the platinum Daytona?

I would say either would be appropriate for your freshman year.

I would be happier if you bought a SS first and a Solid Gold second, so that you could wear them according to your activities.
But, there is no problem wearing Gold everyday, as many have done here, because they are Tough, Very tough...

You have fine taste.
The 116506 is a grail to many including myself. I suggest the 326935 as oppose to the 326938, rose gold is far more attractive being hip and fresh. It can be spotted from across the lecture hall, and many will notice it. Your choices are between a date and non-date; I am sure a date will be useful for school, you should buy both and call it a day. Unless budget does not allow. To be known only able to have one gold watch looks cheap.

What are you studying? That may tell a little about your lifestyle and which piece would suit you best.

I hope you're a whole lot different than I was in college. I wouldn't have trusted the "college me" with anything more than a Seiko SKX007. I also can't imagine how badly a student in my fraternity would have been hazed had he showed up wearing a solid gold Rolex.

With the money you lay out for either choice, you could get more bang for your buck by getting something like a gold sub or GMT and a really nice steel piece, or two.

I'm assuming your finances are in order and student debt isn't an issue. In that case, get what you like. They're all equally great choices.

In regards to Brazen C5 I personalty dont like RM. The Ap is a little out of my price range and PP 5016p is too formal

You seem to have a quite public profile on the net. I would change your nickname to avoid the wrong attentions.
Sorry, given your young age and the watches you are considering I got curious and I googled your name. I would advice for an SD4k or an explorer I or II |

I'd go for a gold Daytona if I was a young gentleman and had the means. It's more sporty and youthful IMHO. Be aware yellow gold really attracts attention whether that matters to you or not. Good luck and please share pictures with us. Cheers!

I would get an SS now and reward yourself with a PM one if you graduate with a first class degree.

Hi,
I would like to respectfully suggest that you forego the watch for now and instead focus on your studies with the goal of getting the best grades you can possibly achieve. Also inquire with your professors if there are opportunities to do additional research projects outside of your regular classes. Prior to the end of each undergraduate school year, you should research & apply for every available summer internship you can find. In addition, identify and perform some community service work, and complete any other kind of volunteer work you can find as well. Please set aside your extra money and save it towards enrolling in a graduate MBA program after completing your undergraduate studies. MBA degrees are 'de rigueur' for pursuing any kind of business career. Your entire life's 'mantra' right now should be doing everything you can to make yourself as 'hire-able' as possible. When you achieve the MBA degree and land your first good job, then think about getting a Rolex. Trust me, you'll appreciate it a thousand times more. Kindest regards, -Rick. |
