GMT case back on a Sub?

I find myself wearing my 1675 GMT over my 16610 Sub more and more often due to the thinness of the watch. It's just more comfortable and lighter.

I was thinking, since a lot of that extra thickness is in the case back, has anyone ever replaced the case back in their Submariner with a GMT type?

Would it even fit?

I know it would compromise the depth rating, but the deepest I've ever had my Sub is around 100ft., so I think I would be good.

If it fits, I expect you'll be fine. The Tudor Ranger is thinner than the GMT-II with a totally flat caseback, and is rated to 150m compared to the the GMT-II's 100m.

That's one of the main things that got me looking at GMT/Explorer IIs. The case back of my 16610 just never felt very comfortable on my arm. I considered swapping case backs, if possible, but I ended just going for an Explorer II, because I liked it anyways.

I would like to know if anyone has physically tried this and whether if the casebacks are truly interchangeable....?

You already have a thread going on this subject, which even links to this thread. No need to have two on the go at once.
