Rolex Daytona ceramic broken

Decided to wear above this evening and not used it for around a week. As I pulled the winder out it has stuck in position 2 which moves hands and will not push back. I managed to push back in and now when manually winding feels "rough" to wind. Also now takes a quarter of a turn to start moving the hands. It's around 6 months old .Any ideas ?

Just relax, first off... Ok, so it takes a 1/4 turn to move the hands, and you feel the winding mechanism is rough--Is it possible you're just noticing these conditions now, upon discovering your crown troubles?

Rolex crowns are notoriously tough for a long time--I feel it takes a couple years just to break one in properly.

Monitor the timekeeping before going warranty crazy. If it's keeping time, then just relax...

Was confused there. I thought the Op meant the ceramic had broken.

Relax as in, see if it keeps time before rushing it off to the RSC, just to have it return fixed but with a ton of scratches...

These service centers do tend to scratch them up.

And of course, a polish is not included for warranty work...

Its possible you broke the winding stem, or your crown interlock is stripped was it hard to wind when it broke or could be something simple like the stem screw is loose

It wasn't hard to wind but felt "rough" if that makes sense. It would only click into wind mode when crown screwed in.

Ive taken it back to AD this morn, they haven't a clue , just said it needs to go back to Rolex. I never had this happen in @ 25 years of owning Rolex and I have been extra careful winding the Daytona. So will just have to wait and see what the cause is.

Sorry to hear about it. hopefully you will have an answer soon..

Someone was saying that Rolex was going thru a Computer upgrade/repair and things were backed up. Let us know if this is still the case

Feel for you. Same sort of thing happened to me with a Rolex after only a month of ownership. I understand watches aren't as perfect as we sometimes assume or wish they were. Occasionally they do tend to prematurely break down.

No big deal. The watch will get regulated as well. Some can go 30 years without any issues, some have chronic issues of bad luck.

Update- received watch back from Rolex and guess what it STILL has the exact same problem. AD apologised and sent it straight back off so yet another couple of months without watch .How many QC checks are made before release?....I'm beginning to wonder! No excuse really.

Daytona c back from repair with SAME problem!

Above received back from repair under warranty after nearly 2 months with the exact same problem (see earlier post) I cannot quite believe this and neither could the A/D. The watch has been sent straight back. How many quality control checks are performed before release? No excuses really.

Sorry to hear. If I recall you had a sticking crown issue

Wouldn't seem like a big problem to solve, and am surprised you're still having issues.

Hope it gets resolved for you soon
