Upgrade Aquanauts? Is it worth it?
Hi guys. I recently bought a pre owned 5167, and has easily become my favorite watch, even more so than the 5711. I like it so much that I'm starting to look at the 5164.
My question is to those that have upgraded. Is it really worth it? The price difference is around $13k for the extra complication and wrist presence. I really don't travel that much, so won't be using the complication much. I guess I'm considering it because it's the "better" version of a watch I'm nuts about. I'd have to move something from my current collection, probably the SubC plus some cash. I'm just not convinced the upgrade is worth it. That's why I'd like to know from people that have done that exact move. Here's a photo of the current collection. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

I'd would go for a precious metal aquanaut instead , rose gold or white gold whatever is your preference

Having had both, I prefer the larger and thicker case of the 5164. I also travel a lot and travel functions are my favorite complication.

Tough call but I think I would do it. I really dig the balance of the 5164 dial.

For the time being, I would sit tight and enjoy the 5167, but at the same time, quietly stuff money away so you can flip it for the 5168 when the time is right..

Nice collection.
I'd upgrade. I prefer the 5164, it adds a nice complication to your collection and there is some overlap with your 5711 and 5167. |

since 5167 is alike 5711 and i think moving up to 5164 would be a nice choice due to different movement.

If the 5167 is your favorite watch, more so than the 5711, I would not make the trade where you are letting go of both the 5167 and the Sub for the 5164. I have both the 5167 and the 5164. I wear the 5167 more often and only reach for the 5164 when I am traveling across time zones. If you are not traveling very much, I personally would not replace the 5167 with the 5164. |

for me it was. prefer the larger size and thickness which balances out the large clasp. Also the lume on the 5164 is white which is more appealing than the greenish of the 5167. A bit more sporty looking too with the pushers.

I made the switch to the 5164 after enjoying my 5167 for many years. I'm definitely happy I made the move. I find it nearly as comfortable,I like the complication, and it differentiates the watch a bit more from my 5711

If the 5167 is your favourite then I guess you could upgrade the 5711 instead to the 5712 for dial variation?
Like some others I always thought if owning both the Aqua and Nautilus then a combo of one simple dial and one complication dial would be the way to go e.g. 5711 & 5164..... or 5712 and 5167 However of course its a lot of cash to upgrade the 5167 to a 5164 Im waiting on the 5711 and already eyeing up one of the Aquas. I could grab a 5167 by selling one Rolex and adding cash etc however would prob have to sell 3 watches to get the 5164 (Daytona, Sub etc) I remember seeing the 5164 in a AD window next to the 5167 and I was strongly attracted to the 5164 despite originally the forum pics swinging me towards the 5167 I keep thinking a 5711 blue and 5164 is all I would ever need and very tempted (though I guess still need a Sub for rough occasions!!) |

I personally love the 5164 so I'd do it for sure. Seems to me the nautilus and 5167 are just a little too similar whereas you get the nice variation and the best/easiest to use GMT ever created in the 5164

I have had and worn both regularly.
I love them both but if I had to choose 5164 gets my vote

I love my 5164. I like the added thickness and wrist presence. For a thinner watch, I like my 5711.

Why do you think this is so? theyre similarly comfortable, from what ive read, they wear about the same. Whats your reasoning on having the 5167 as well and why do you prefer to wear it over the 64?

I really like the 5168 however I guess if you have a blue 5711 already do you really need 2 blue dials. Now a few days have passed I think I prefer the black dial aquanauts due to this

Beautiful collection. If you like to differ? Then get rid of 67 and upgrade to 64.

I prefer the 5164 but it's a hell of a premium for a GMT function when you consider soon you'll be able to get a whole steel Sky Dweller (gmt and annual calendar functions) for the difference!

Yes, I was actually thinking the same today. After consideration I think I'll keep the 5167 for now. The travel time is very nice, but can't justify the premium. Thanks to everyone that chimed in. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

Having just purchased a 5167 myself I share your sentiment. It's my favorite out of my current pieces. I think if I were in your position I might add a 5726 in place of the 5711. I too like symmetrical dials so 5712 is out for me.
