Should I trade SS Sub-C & TT DJ36 for Black TT Sub-C?

As the title states, should I trade in my 116610LN and 116233 w/ Champagne dial for a 116613LN?

I bought the DJ36 a few months ago because I felt the SS-Sub C (my 1st Rolex) and TT DJ were the perfect duo. I wear the DJ at the office during the week and the Sub in the evenings and weekends. I originally wanted to have my "one and only Rolex" and went with the SS Sub-C, but I had to have a TT in my collection and got a great deal on the DJ.

Now that I have had both for a few months, I find myself gravitating towards the Sub more often as it always has the perfect fit and I like the size better than the DJ36. But I know the DJ36 is the perfect business man's watch, so I'd hate to let it go.

However, I feel the TT Sub-C w/ black dial is a perfect "one and only Rolex" which was originally my goal. It also has more of a wrist presence, which is what I'm looking for in casual settings outside of work. I'd be losing out a couple grand but I'm trying to go with my gut.

Thoughts?

Are we talking straight up trade? What are the terms of the deal? Condition of other watch, etc..

I wouldn’t do it. Rather have two vs just one. You have awesome watches no point going for a two tone sub. You have the ultimate sub if you ask me. Not worth losing money on a trade for a two tone sub

Big tt subc fan but this is a tough one. The tt def has more pop than the steel as I own the latter and used to have the former. I think I'd rather have two than one. Why not get rid of the small 36 and upgrade that to something else? Yes. This.

This is a tough one, I like two of the three watches you are talking about, but I'm not a huge fan of the 116610ln. I would do it just because in my mind, if my sub has a date, it will be PM of some kind. But that is THE classic DJ!

That's a real nice Duo. But if your original goal was a "one and only", I say do it!

Are you buying the 116613 BNIB? I'm trying to figure-out the lost factor with this Trade. The 116610 you should get (about) 5800-6000 on Trade (depending on condition & accessories), the 116233 about 6900-7400.

I'd try to find a preowned 116613LN with a TD here. They're going for (about 9000-1000). Trade in the 116233, pay the difference. You'll have the 116610 & 116613, which you enjoy wearing.

I would sell the watch individually and just buy the TT Sub with some spare cash.

I would not trade your two current pieces for a 116613LN. I'd keep the SubC, sell the Datejust and then purchase the TT SubC.

I'd keep both. Both great watches and trading it to another sub wouldn't do much. With time, it would feel like you just lost the DJ since you already had the sub in the first place.

My Rolex rotation is TT Sub (black face, non-C) and a Explorer (pre luminous hour numbers). Sometimes I want the bling and sometimes not...

That Datejust does look good on your wrist, even though I'm not a fan of the SS sub

I like your current pair.. so my simple answer is no.. All rolexes are quite versatile but the ss models will be a bit better for more casual / weekend / holiday purposes. I just think you will miss this aspect when you loose the SS Sub.

Stick with what you have. They are 2 absolute classics.

If you really want a TT then save up and add a third.

If you want one watch the TT is more interesting than the black subc so yes.

One of the reasons why I went with my current combo, I wanted the bling/class of the DJ for work and the stealth that comes with the SS-Sub-C. But I was thinking the TT Sub was a happy medium as the bling isn't over the top.

No.

First, I don't like the black TT sub myself. For that reason I'll think of this as the blue version though because I do like that one, a lot. But even then I still wouldn't because I love the two you have.

A SS Sub is classic, as is a TT champagne dial DJ...I really don't think a two watch Rolex pair gets more classic than these two. These are the watches that Rolex is know for and they pair perfectly as a true sports watch and a nice dressier but still casual enough for anything watch.

I would not. This is the quintessential Rolex combo you've got there.

Agreed ... though I prefer the TT Blue Sunburst dial instead of
the black ... Not that I don't like the black dial jusr prefer the
Blue if only one with some cash back on top ...

A TT sub barely counts as flying under the radar my friend ...I have seen probably 4 over the last year and I can see them from a mile away...ha ha
