How noticeable is the Submariner?
Hey guys! So new to the forum, but I made the plunge last October and bought a Milguass Z blue. I get it now....
I got the Rolex bug and wanted to save up for a Submariner one day. My only question is how noticeable is it on someone's wrist? I don't buy watches for people to look at them, I buy them for my own personal enjoyment. I own a Speedmaster and have only gotten one compliment on it. Which is perfect for me. Also love to see your Sub pics if ya got them! |

One look towards your wrist whilst your wearing a sub and people would know its a rolex :p. I would say its the most common Rolex sports watch and for good reason.
If you are gearing towards a sub I would recommend getting the LV or the TT bluesy the sunburst dial on these are just beautiful. Whatever way you go you just cannot go wrong with a sub. Pull the trigger. Mine saying hello.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

How noticeable is the Submariner?
Submariner is i think one of the most recognizable model from afar. That's why many brands makes a submariner homage.
2 months of owning this, 5 people noticed it, 3 person asked if its fake, 1 person appreciated it, 1 person asked for the price and tried wearing it. Then I bought an Everest rubber strap, since then no one asked me, it flies under the radar. That oyster bracelet i think the culprit that makes this flashy. |

Buy what YOU want, don't be concerned about whether or not others notice or not.
Mine has gotten two comments in just over 4 years which is fine with me.

I've worn mine every day for the last 6 months in Portland. Not a single person has mentioned it. Only watch people notice watches. That's my take.

Only people who know Rolex will notice. The average person couldn't tell if that watch was $70 or $7000.
I used to have TT Blue and got a few compliments on that from non watch people(5 years of wearing). I have had a SS Sub, SD and or DSSD on my wrist for 17 years and maybe got 2 compliments Don't worry no one will notice. (Unless into watches) |

I'm confused by your post.
Are you wanting a sub so people notice you and the watch because the Z Blue isn't Rolexy enough? I love mine. Don't care if I ever get noticed. I wanted it and I bought it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed that, unless it's something super flashy like Bluesy sub or something gold, only watch people notice watches.
Nobody who isn't somewhat into watches and is already aware that I am has commented on my Sub since I bought it almost two months ago. Not once. I got way more comments on my Seiko SKX009 on a navy blue nato....the pepsi bezel and navy nato are a good looking combo, haha. |

No actually I rather have a watch that people don't notice. I like the Z blue since it flies under the radar.

No one notices.
If they do they think it's fake anyways. |

Well, the Sub is definitely the most widely-known Rolex among the general public, so it certainly does stand out more than other models!

I don't care about anyoane notice my watch.
From my experience I can say people notice PM watch and blink watch. When you wear a SS watch I see from my experience almost no one notice your watch! If you want something to be remarked get an expensive Mercedes, BMW or if you have cohones a Lamborghini or Ferrari! |

That's what I picked up on too...THREE people flat out said "that's fake" to you? That's pretty intense, and really arrogant. Personally, I'd have said "Ok" to flat out statements like that, but then again, no one (in public) has ever asked about my BLNR in the 3 weeks I've had it, and I've been ALL over (restaurants, bars, daily walks/runs, etc.). We'll see if anyone comments when I head out to Croatia for 3 weeks end of next week.
I do see people eyeing the shimmery nature of the bracelet, but other than my girlfriend's step brother who was sitting very close to me and looked like he was reading the dial has asked "hey that's nice! is it real?". To which I replied "of course!", and he knew it was because he knows I'm a watch guy. Quote:

The only ones who make an ongoing effort to notice a Rolex Submariner in public are usually the ones thinking of stealing them.

The SS models, not so much, unless it's a Hulk. The TT and 18K models, much more so.

I never quite get this about people don't want other people knowing they wear a Rolex. So what is the point ? A Rolex is jewellery, and most people wear jewellery to be noticed, that is why they wear it. If you want people not to know, then you may as well wear any watch, hidden by your shirt, hoping it doesn't come down and people will say bad things about you. I don't go with this ' yes but I know its a Rolex' either and most people wouldn't know a Rolex watch from any other watch.

The vast majority of people don't give a s**t about what watch you have on and will never notice.
The ones who do notice are most commonly watch people or criminals. |

Very recognizable, after all the Sub is an Icon and the Oyster bracelet and Cyclops are dead giveaways. Ceramic has a very high quality "look" to it.

I've had a few people over the years comment, nice watch. But not often.
To a wis it's noticeable from a mile away. To others, it's just a watch. To me it's been a great companion that I've done everything under the sun in, highly recommend!

I find them very noticeable, but then I look at watches.
Most people have no idea, and are looking at the flashy Michael Kors someone else is wearing. I was at a bar the other night and the bar guy was wearing some awful pretend "iced out" watch with fake diamonds in the bezel, dial and bracelet. It must have cost him all of $50 (it was bad.....even from a distance). Trust me when I say everyone was looking at his watch and no one else's It did start an interesting conversation about watches at our table though. |

Owned sub for several years but not so many "notice" maybe I try not to show the watch in public... On the other hand I would like ask how its "noticeable" for your Milgauss? I am just about looking to buy one.

Buy and wear what you like, no one will notice.
Not unless you are calling attention yourself

Perhaps worth noting in addition, that just because no one comments on your watch does not mean no one notices your watch.
Many find it inappropriate to comment/make a fuss over such things, but I wouldn't assume that all those people don't notice. Even as a WIS, I don't always say something to someone, especially if they seem to be in a rush and/or busy. |

I always wonder how many notice and don't say anything. I did have a client comment on my 14060M last week. He seemed to be marginally in to watches!
