Robert Mitchum's Datejust
I'm a big Robert Mitchum fan, to say the least. I noticed in "The Big Sleep" (1978), there is a very prominent close-up of his stainless Datejust. The watch also makes a brief appearance in 1975's "The Yakuza".
I had wondered if it was his personal watch. Watching a few clips of him on The Tonight Show and also with David Letterman, it appears as if the watch is indeed Mitchum's own watch, and he seems to be quite fond of touching it when he is in conversation. I think I have decided which Rolex will be my next one. |

That's great, I'm going to start calling the 1603 the Robert Mitchum. Understated coolness

I love the fine wacht of my idol since 1977 ( " the big sleep" film ). Now have one exactly similar, dated 1969. Is a Rolex; one work of art.
